Fond of gography and have a soft spot for Australia. Try to learn as much I can about your part of the world. The emus are certainly only known in your area. Dirk from South Africa

Hi Peter, well these aren't the best looking birds i've ever seen, but they do have an interesting look about them. Thanks for the close up of the Emu...Claudette

Hi Peter - Thank you for your kind comments re my Flower Macros album which was featured. You have an Olympus too - I am so happy with mine esp the 10x optical zoom - fantastic! Re your comment "Webshots does allow us to store photos at a much higher resolution than 800 x 600" - I realise that but I do most of my images for a photo forum where 500px is max for posting - I can't be bothered doing 2 sizes - it would mean a generic file for the software, then 2 sizes for the web - not too good with lack of computer space lol and the number of images I deal with - I save to disk too. Yep, I'm on dial-up - another reason for smaller sizes. We used to live in Perth BTW - beautiful city - we still miss it after 20 years. Thanks again :) Hillie Toowoomba Qld

Hi Peter. Thanks so much for visiting my featured album today -- I appreciate your kind comments. Also I love your tongue-in-cheek sense of humor! :-) Indeed I don't know the names of hardly ANY of the flowers I photograph -- I just shoot them. Thanks again for dropping by and taking time to make a notation in my guestbook. Someday I'll have to come to Austrailia; but until then I can enjoy your photos instead. Thanks for sharing with us. Hi Peter, Thank you so much for your kind compliments on my featured album today. I just found out a little while ago and I am so excited. And, yes, I believe I have a few summer scenes around our yard, but not of the lake yet. I'm really just learning this camera, so I will be getting out a lot this spring and summer to cover the whole lake area. Raintree Plantation is in Missouri; about 40 miles southeast of St. Louis, Missouri. I'm sorry, but I don't know what 40 miles is in kilometers...lol. By the way, I love the emus. Thanks again. Hi Peter, again me, please look up todays featured (# 2 with the skies in differente color and a LOT of numbers...hmmmm) I left my footprint there and on purpose put your name wrong just in case you check read the guestbook and then add some "nice" comments. Today is my last day off so tomorrow WS checking will be short. You may want to delete this entry if you wish Hugs-Katie or Kathy

Gidday Peter..( is that how you Aussies say it?) I am speechless for this wonderful addition, Mr Emu finally has a companion, and a beautiful picture by the way...I thank you so much and take it as a personal present if I may, I am delighted. Imagine Peter beeing enclosed alone in an album without the possibility to escape or get a friend or "album mate"..so finally I am relieved. :-) On other issue: I would like to make a deal with you if you would agree. Each time you or me see a featured album where the photo titles or captions are numbers or even nothing sometimes, we would either not sign the album or put some remarks to make the "famous" ; author aware of this lack of artistry. What do you say?. There must be a way to "fight" agains these careless members, and may be some day WS screeners will get their brains enlightened... Once more a big thanks for Mrs Emu ... you made my day Peter. Hugs from wet, super wet California-Kathy

Hi Peter, I loved you entry in one of today featured album with those lovely flowers but only stupid numbers saying in very polite manner that she shoud name her flowers!!!!...It utmost irritates me when I see that and the screeners at WS should not feature this kind of work meanwhile people like you take the trouble to title each photo and write nice captions...we should all fight against this injustice. Hugs Kathy

Peter you are an artist even in your writing, very nice about your comments to my new album and the Barry Manilow music....I am glad you had a nice time...but.. Emu is still alone, he deserves a Mrs Emu or something like that...condemned to solitude???:-)hugs Kathy

Thank you for signing my guestbook Sunday (12/20/04) when Webshots featured my “It’s All Good” album. Webshots has certainly grown up since I first joined this site back in 2000. It has become such an international site. It is wonderful. Who signed my guestbook: 3 from Australia, 3 from England, 2 from the Netherlands, 2 from Italy, 4 from Canada, 2 from Finland, , 1 from Japan, Lebanon, Belgium, Malasia, Germany, and Madrid, 14 from the USA (2 of whom are my home town and I do not know them), 2 who have been so many places I could not tell where they were from and one complete mystery person Pierre. I’d like to venture out into the world. So if any of you want to do some emailing for a while to swap information about our cultures, I’d really be interested in that. We have one thing in common obviously. Photography.! We could learn a lot talking to each other and asking questions about what we see in each others photos. My email is …. Liven4Fotoz@yahoo.com. Cultural diversity is so great. Merryeb

Thanks for your kind comments on my featured album. Sad to say that covered Bridges are relics of the past with only a few 100 remaining in the U.S. and most are historic land marks. As the industry of bridge building evolved, builders learned to create longer spans using trusses, arches, and joined stringers. Like many structures of the late 18th century, these bridges were made almost entirely of wood. It soon became apparent that the joints of a wooden truss bridge would deteriorate rapidly when exposed to the elements. The covered bridge was invented in response to the need to protect the wood trusses and joints. Garry

It was a pleasure finding out that I had a "Featured Album" posted on 11-12-04 by the staff at Webshots, and the pleasure of getting responses from folks all over the world.....I did enjoy the limelight. Thanks again for taking the time out to visit!! Jerry Minneapolis, MN US
