The place has changed somewhat after Hurrican Kenna along the Malecon, Mismaloya and Hotel Zone beaches. We were there 4 weeks this year and 7 weeks last year. Wife's dad bought 3 weeks at Los Tules in 1983. Since 1989, we have been using them and adding days elsewhere, mostly in the Romantic Zone. Hot restaurants are Barcelona (Tapas & El Centro views on Matamoros) and River Cafe (great food, service and live entertainment on the Isla Cuale). Las Carmelitas is pricey for the food but gives amazing views.

Oxluhan - No, the place IS Chino's. Chico's is a nearby, but different place. People always get the 2 places confused (so you are not alone). Chino's is up the Mismaloya River from the La Jolla de Mismaloya resort. Chico's is a few miles further south. Compare the photos in this album with the photos on the website you listed. Look carefully and you will see they are not the same (though they look very similar). By the way, it took me forever to get that fact straight. Very confusing, so don't feel bad.

We spent the day at La Jolla in May 2003. The beach has taken some nasty erosion, but it is still a fabulous resort. The pools have been refurbished now too. The South pool is now deep, deep blue because of the new tiles they used. Its beautiful. Thanks for the photos. Perro Grande
