    • This proved to be a challenging hike...especially the Chapman Trail...not many hikers, somewhat overgrown in places, and some dangerously eroded trails on the exposed north side of the traverse across Chapman. The skies were overcast and showers threatened. We turned back down Ice House Canyon Trail where it intersects with the upper Chapman Trail and descended along a well-used trail through Incense Cedar, boulders, and a lovely stream running beside the trail right to the parking lot. lots of old cottage foundations and evidence of huge rock slides and winter run-offs. This was a Sunday hike, and lots of people came and went on all trails...Chapman was not well-populated.
