  • I stewed and chewed AGAIN. What a wondrous collection of Lights with only names missing here and there and sometimes (especially in Iceland) everywhere. L.O.L. THAT is the bane of my life as a Lighthice Collector!

  • This has got to be one of the most comprehensive collections of lighthouses assembled anywhere. I can tell that this took a lot of time for you to put it together. It is very nicely done. The only one missing is our Makapu'u lighthouse out here in Hawaii. I know your photographic skills would really do it justice. Clark from O'ahu.

Any way there is a women from the west coast that is a member and I mention that she should take a look at your stuff and she did and she love it. Anyway if you would like to view her collection go to this link http://www.trekearth.com/critiques.php?filter=gunbud&type=received and like for pilm and just like on that name and you will see her collection. I'm sure you will enjoy. My recovery is going slow so that is why have not posted recently. Tom

  • Excellent choice, Sept. is the best time. Knowing you I think at least one maybe two, possibly 3 albums. I have never been there digitally so I hope to return and go crazy. I must encourage you not to forget Swans because of it's time warp value. Oh get some shots of the hotels from up on the hills on Monhegan and check out the small island in the harbor and the story of the hermit that sailed into it in the 30s and never left.

  • Egg Rock Island Light is at the entrance to Bar Harbor and you can get some good shots of it Sand Beach and Cadallic Mt. from the water if you take the 2 hour scenic boat tour. The lighthouse was built in the 1870s and according to the tour guide is thought to be the ugliest in Maine. If you take the tour you can see open caves many islands and the tour guide is quite the comic. Monhegan is a hiking island and Swans is a driving island. Monehegan has some very statley hotels and is the more scenic of the two. Swans is a working island that you can definetly get that isolated flavor. If your ever back to Port Clyde on the way there on rt. 71 just before you turn on 132 look for Clark Island Rd. on your left. Go to the end of the road and park on the shoulder near the Craignair Hotel and there is a walking bridge onto Clark Island. You can walk around the shore till you hit a trail that goes into the woods near an apple orchard that leads you to another beach. From this beach on a clear day you can see Jamie Whyets island where there is a lighthouse. I have kayaked out of Tennats Harbor where you can get a real nice look at the island and house. Any way if your ever there in the winter I bet you could get some great shots. There is a big black lab that lives on the island he is a most gracious host. His name is Sammy and I belive he has hit the big dog lottery because he has the perfect home.

  • Right after you get off the ferry on Swan's Island is the Island Bake Shop. Great breakfast and lunches. The Lighthouse is a great spot for a picnic. Monhegan Island is a great location for photos. There is a hiking trail around the island that is magnificent. You can take the ferry from either Port Clyde or New Harbor. The Harpoon Resturant in Port Clyde has the best seafood I ever had and the Anchor Resturant in Round Pond is another keeper. You inspired me to dig up some old photos from Monhegan that I put in the Maine Vacations.

  • Great Collection, Pumpking Island, well I was racing against time, breaking traffic law to catch the sunset, I just missed by about 5 minutes. This was May and when I was back in Sept the sunset had moved. So I've told by locals that spring affords some beautiful shots of that light. I will get all those downeast houses this sept. and this spring I'll be caught loitering in other peoples gardens. Your flowers are exceptional. I noticed that you do not have the Egg Rock Island light (Bar Harbor). If you take the 2 hour tour you can catch it. There is a beauty on the Hudson River, Saugerties, NY where you can bed & breakfast. I noticed that the house in the south are much taller, I'm guessing because it is so flat there?Well I love your stuff and check a different album daily. otom

  • Hi, nice photos! thanks for your kind words in our guestbook. We LOVE lighthouses and have visited more than 225 U.S. Lighthouses. We have been inside about 40 of them. I hope you had a chance to check out all our lighthouse albums. No, we don't have a boat. We do go out on boat trips or ferries, etc., to get close-ups. The Lighthouse Digest website and Jeremy D'Etremont's website have lots of info on lighthouse trips. Do you live in CT? So do we. Please send me an email at Pats7288@yahoo.com if you need lighthouse info. thanks again! Pat

  • Hi Lynne, just have a few minutes on our friends' computer - came to peek at what's new. Avery Point looks cold and a bit eerie but is very pretty too, in the fog. Hope all is well for you in CT. I see my previous message posted twice; you might want to delete the repeat! ... Judy

  • Hi Lynn, I just wrote another message and it didn't post; I'll condense it this time. Mike loves your shot of Nobska Light; any chance you have one in a higher resolution of that one? He remembers picnics there in the early 40's. ... Take care, Judy

  • Hi Lynn; I have a request from my husband Mike, for a higher resolution photo of Nobska Light. He remembers family picnics there in the early 40's when summering with relatives. He and his friends used to fill canteens for the soldiers practicing with landing craft for the invasion of Normandy. Your lighthouse collection is phenomenal; how long have you been collecting and/or taking these photos? ... Time for bed, Judy

  • *** I ~LOVE~ your albums; I ended up here via some convoluted path that I couldn't repeat if my life depended on it, but I'm very happy I did!!! ... I lived in CT my first 50-years and many of the places you have photographed brought back such wonderful memories. I have a personal question I'd like to ask you; would you kindly e-mail me @ LdybugVW@tampabay.rr.com ? I would really appreciate it. Have a Happy New Year! ... Judy aka L@dybug / FL Maine, P.E.I.,Margaree & Walton, NS all bring back memories (before I had a good camera).

  • Beautiful photography. My wife and I picniced at the Seacow Head Light when we were there in August 2003. Donna's family owns land and cottages in Fernwood, a short distance from the light. Great place to fly kites. The lighthouse was actually moved back from the cliffs twice since the original was built, due to erosion of the head. I have two albums on webshots taken in 2003. Hope you'll check them out.
