Yes, I was there long ago... at sweet-sixteen, returning from Canada to spend a year seeing my birthplace, Salzburg...and of course revisiting Vienna. Now this older lady from Vancouver Island, Canada... is in Korea, but you have stirred my heart with such joy and tears. Living in a tiny tower top room in Asia, I can only say that it is akin' to the tower in the castle by the lake that you captured so well. "Today is tomorrow's memories", and you have stirred mine so delectibly. Rich . . . congratulations on your well-deserved featured album; Hallstatt is one of the MOST beautiful towns in all of AUSTRIA. We were there in 1998 and spent a glorious month in a friend's home in Bad Ischl. On his three-week vacation, he took us to different places every day, seeing his own area of the Salzkammergut through the eyes of his visitors. One day we went to the Salzwelten Hallstatt [salt mine] a mile into the mountain high above Hallstatt, another we rented a boat and went out on Lake Hallstättersee; we visited Hallstatt's Cultural Heritage Museum and also the famous ossuary where decorated disinterred skulls and bones are stored. While odd-sounding to us, it was a sacred spot. We left a part of our hearts there in the little Austrian town 'stuck' to the base of lakeside mountain!!! ...
