  • Hi Orly, now I know why it took you so long! You wrote an other research proposal!!! I just came back from searching this album as coming back from looking at an historical Movie - a full time movie. I can't believe it took me even more than two hours! ;) I like your explanations and your stories, I think I've learned more than in a history class! My favorite caption is that to picture # 15 Al-Jazzar Mosque - Ceiling Decoration! Maybe because I weren't aware of the connection. I like the pictures you took against the light 'especially #14) that was floating through the open windows in the Al-Jazzar Mosque! Beautiful. Then #22 the story about the clock tower! A symbol of coexistence! I didn't know it. #22 is a great shot, also is 26, 27, 28 - and I like 18!! #31 - very professional, as if you measuring the angles for it! In the Hospitaller Fortress I like the illumination for instance in #39, 41, 45. I've never been in the citadel. My husbands father and uncle stood there for a while in times of the British..........! #51 is a perfect shot! And I like 53 the back of the citadel with all those signs of not yet being ready for the mass tourism. In #55 you got all that atmosphere of the Turkish bath caught in that picture. Beautiful! The Synagogue looks much like a museum. # 71, 74, 78 and 68 of the Akko port - getting there is like getting back to life! ;) # 78 is glorious! What a shot. It makes me remember that I wanted do make an album of light - some other time, year! Those Akko girl are so cute! Maybe I have to go to Akko again and get- at last - people pictures! Then I arrived to 85 and loaded it down. # 86 - better and loaded it down, #87 - an other better one and loaded it down too - and so on! Now, after I got them all, I think I like most # 93 with it's silver water and a golden sun over it! - Orly it was a great tour! Sure this one deserves a feature! - Have a beautiful weekend! ......and what is next? - Galit from Kfar-Sava, IL

  • Orly, this is a truly superb album! I paused at each photograph, let the image soak into me and read every word of the lucid captions you had written. Though the picture was visual, the captions added a dimension which was immeasurably educational. Without the captions it would have been just another series of slides. The Al Jazzar mosque is very impressive, the interior is as opulent as the ones I have seen in Istanbul. The Khan al-Omdan with its granite columns and the impressive courtyard are a visual treat. You have done a truly illustrative work of the Hospitaller fortress. It was like being inside there during the crusaders' time. The citadel too was a part of the history that is unknown to many around the world. I am always biased towards teking pictures of the local people as I feel they are the ones who lend soul to the city or their nation. The pictures of the children are simply adorable. I know what joy it brings them to be photographed. I can well imagine your difficiulty in getting a clear picture!! Orly, by any standard this is phenomenal album and I am very grateful to you for taking the trouble to put it together and having spent a lot of time in writing the captions. Your effort is hugely appreciated. Best wishes, Suresh

  • Very well done Orly. I have never been to Akko, a city with very rich history. But, someday I will make the visit. You captured history very well in your narration, which makes the slideshow look like a movie with captions, evoking a frozen period of time. This is a true masterpiece, well-thought and esthetically organized. Kudos. Regards. Majed

  • CIAO ORLY !!! Finally I find the time to walk with you in Acri (in italian language) to watch at history and to learn some new things….as I said days ago the album is a true beauty and I LOVE it. It's a perfect mix of history, people, landascapes and is a true experience look with my eyes a city that I knowed only form book about crusaders (I LOVE Middle age history because I think my people is children of Middle age more than Roman age….. middle age is everywhere here in Italy). I love your shots and your comments from Fantastic Al Jazar Mosque (a true beauty) and mainly from Hospitaller fortress; I have read many things about this castle and now I can see it! About that….I totally agree with your comment in shot 39; for sure religion was and IS a pretext for violence and war that have a different cause. Another thing is that I'm amazed to see how italian history is combined with your country... I know that italian marine cities was presents everywhere in mediterranean sea and that they use crusaders to expand their presence, but find a synagogue built from a man from Padova it's a true surprise :-)! To close this message in my terrible english (ah ah ah) I MUST send you my applause for your people and children shots! Photos 16, 17, 63, 68, 80, 81, 82 are MASTERPIECES! You know... I LOVE how you take the human life! I must send you the same COMPLIMENT for the final sunset sequence …. an excellent end for a fantastic album! THANKS my friend and again COMPLIMENTS! Ruggero

  • Hi Orly, thank you, thank you, thank you! Thanks for looking at my roses and your feature proposal that became true, ....just for the other album! But...it is never too late for an o t h e r feature! ::::-) I am happy you liked to read my last message, as much as I enjoyed viewing this extraordinary Akko album. When I wrote it, I just thought, that you had invested so much energy in making that album, that you deserve to know how much I love it.:-))))) Akko is such a special place. I will keep your advise in mind when going to Akko. A nice place to begin with 'people pictures'! As you liked my roses I dedicated rose #03 to you. I thought those roses, I mean the real once, were too beautiful to keep them for myself. Hadar, who gave me those roses and got rose #01 has a student flat at 'shuk HaCarmel'.... it took hours till I knew she was okay yesterday. She didn't answer the phone. Orly, stay well and have a wonderful day too! Galit

  • Shalom Orly & WOW Good Lord Jarah!, this album or should I say Brillent Body of work is more than outstanding it is PERFECTION! I can not add to what others have so truefully written below me as they have said it all! People think that in this world today the greatest crime is world hunger or wars or other terrible things, but in truth; the greatest crime to mankind in this day & age is Lack of Knowledge & Using Knowledge in a Postive way, I truely believe this Orly; you Make a mind enquire, eyes to want to seek out more Truth & you feed the soul/heart with the Truth in The Warmest way..by not involing yourself but letting your work & words/truth do this for you. A Person without an EGO is very precious & wise. My 15yr old Nice Kara Loves your site, just wait until she comes over for her lessons this weekend, This album will be her Lesson & we will have a study time afterwards if she doesn,t fall asleep like last weekend after 5hours in your Souk/Jerusalem Album! True, it's wonderful. God Be Your Right Hand.. Isabella..

  • Hi Orly, Well, you sure have been busy! What an INCREDIBLE album!!! (Sorry...I hit enter by mistake on that last entry!) Anyways...as usual...you have given us such an incredible look at your part of the world and the rich history of your people! I am amazed by your knowledge and your ability to share it in such depth! I need to come back and spend more time so that I can absorb it all. Along with the great history, you have captured such wonderful pictures of those precious children! What beautiful little faces!!! And, the lovely sunset at the end of the album didn't need a caption...beauty speaks volumes! Thank you so much for visiting my albums today. I always love hearing from you! I was hoping to add more pictures to the featured album today (even before I realized that it was being featured!) I have to get my fill of picture-taking in as I will be having surgery on the 19th & will be laid up for 4-6 weeks. (That will give me plenty of time to work on organizing the multitude of pictures on mu computers!!! Have a blessed day! Your friend, Lynn

  • Hi Orly! Very good observation about the Wax Museum not having visitors. In fact I stayed in line for more than 1.5 hrs to get in because it was very crowded. I simply did not include pictures with visitors in the background in the album. I also used Photoshop to "darken&quot ; the background of a few pictures so that museum visitors don't distract the viewer from the main subject. The third trick I used is simply to extract the subjects and put them against a totally different background so they appear more esthetic. You are right, it is almost impossible to take "Clean" photos there.
