  • THANK YOU - for this wonderful trip. I appreciate your eye for scenes and subjects to shoot. Lots of camera work here - takes time and effort - even when you enjoy it. I sure appreciate your time and effort. A fine trip via the seat-of-my-pance - AND my big imagination. A real pleasure ! Very Sincerely, Seattle :^)

  • I really adore this album. A land that I wish to visit ever since. Neue Sinagogue in Berlin has beeen built in 1859. On November, the 9th, 1938, it was partially demolished, during the Kristallnacht. It was completely destroyed by bombing in 1943, and then completely rebuilt in 1986. Ale :-) from Italy

  • Thanks for posting pictures of Colorado. In grade school & junior high school I lived in the Black Forest. My grandparents homesteaded a place near there. My father worked the post office in downtown Colo. Springs, & I know the downtown area well. Thanks again. Joe

  • We enjoyed seeing the photos you took around Ridgway! A few notes: photo #86 you call "Old Firehouse" is actually the Ridgway's second town hall building. It served as Ridgway Town Hall for 100 years, from 1898 to 1988. It was also used as a high school, firehouse, Knights of Pythias Lodge, and movie theatre, ALL while still being the Town Hall! The bell tower was added in 1968 for the filming of the movie "True Grit" (John Wayne) in which the building was portrayed as a schoolhouse. This building is currently an art studio & gallery. Photo # 87 called "Old Commercial Building" is of the Amos E. Walther "Bank of Ridgway" building, built in 1911. It too appears in the movie "True Grit" disguised as the undertakers office. Photo # 88 entitled "Uncompahgre Mountains" is actually a shot of the Cimarron Ridge, northeaast of the San Juan Mountains. The highest peak visible in your photo is Courthouse Mountain at 12,152' (far right of photo). This ridge features in a number of famous scenes in "True Grit." Uncompahgre Peak at 14,309' is indeed the highest peak nearby, though it does not appear in the photo. The Cimarron Ridge is considered an offshoot of the San Juan Mountains. While this photo is of an area in the Uncompahgre National Forest, there are no "Uncompahgre Mountains." Hope these little facts will add to your info about our area. We really ENJOYED finding these photos on the web! Thanks!
