  • Ruggero, What a pleasure seeing many wonderful new characters joining "my" album! I love the French kiss (8), where is dad (20) so red (37), a cunning smile (44) and the little boy (57). Many children now really look from Mary Poppins. I'm glad to see Mary was found (sort of). However, where is the chimney sweep song????? Anyway, I love your people shots, and I hope you can take more - maybe in another festival? Meanwhile you can practice on cats. At least they won't drink Italian wine in a plastic cup! Ha Ha Ha, only now I do understand what a great CRIME it is (almost like eating a bread that tastes like cardboard)! :-) >:D< Orly

Then, oh then, I found the chimney sweeps album. Very interesting, very close to the subjects. The faces of humanity have so much beauty, so much joy. And especially the children. Their faces are so fresh and new. Each one a treasure of all mankind. All of the different countries, mixed together, having fun, sharing the fellowship of their unique and ancient profession - May God grant us all such a time of peace and brotherhood. Non sapevo che potesse esistere una festa degli spazzacamini ed in particolare modo in Val Vigezzo, perche' ho un'amica che ha la casa in questa zona e non mi ha mai parlato di questo evento, vorra' dire che la prendero' per i capelli per questa grave mancanza d'informazione. Ritorniamo al tuo album, non ho parole nel descrivere le tue perfette inquadrature di volti talmente espressivi che qualsiasi commento non troverebbe spazio.   • Hi Ruggero, What a fantastic album! People are the most fascinatng subject. You like to take pictures of people and it shows! The expressions on their faces combined with the sweat and the black sootplus the lighting create dramatic portraits, worthy of a classical painter - a Frans Hals and such. The best ones in my opinion are #1, 3, 4, 28 (the boy), 33, 47, 50, 60. The lighting, exposure and sharpness are exceptional! Each face tells a story, each one is a work of art! I really hope you do more people photography, as well as &quot;boring scenery&quot;. I feel like taking peole shots myself now but since March is the most beautiful month in Israel, I will have to do some scenery albums. Allora li guardi fino alla fine gli album ;-) Bravo :-) Col Transalp che avevo fino a 3 anni fa ci ho girato l'Europa e mi sono divertito tantissimo (con questa un po' meno, e non posso andarci in Islanda, come invece vorrei, sgrunt). ----- Ruggero questo album sulla festa degli spazzacamini è bellissimo. Potrei dire che mi piacciono tantissimi aspetti delle tue foto: la luce del sole che riesci a catturare su quei visi neri, le inquadrature di primissimo piano, le esposizioni sempre perfette ecc., ma i miei elogi avrebbero il senso del raglio dell'asino perche' non sono un conoscitore della tecnica della fotografia (faccio foto a &quot;senso&quot; e al massimo indovino qualche inquadratura, ma per es. se volessi arricchire l'immagine con qualche effetto sono gia' in panne: dovrei aprire il manuale oppure provare e riprovare). Cosi', limitandomi a godermi il &quot;contenuto&q uot; posso dire che i sorrisi che ci sono negli occhi e sulle labbra di quegli spazzacamini sono tutti bellissimi, dal primo all'ultimo: quelli degli &quot;spazzacamini bambini&quot; sono belli il doppio, se mai fosse possibile. E siccome fotografiamo le cose che amiamo, questo album diventa un meraviglioso specchio per conoscere l'animo di chi lo ha fatto. Gia' ti conoscevamo innamorato della natura, guardando le &quot;tue&quot; bellissime vallate, il &quot;tuo&quot; bellissimo mare, i &quot;tuoi&quot; innumerevoli fiori di montagna (e si intuisce il tuo sorriso per ognuno di essi). Questa &quot;festa di gente&quot; semplice e felice, che ci hai portato, ci rivela un altro pezzetto del tuo animo, della tua formula segreta (ciascuno di noi ne ha una) della felicità.   • Oh, this is a thoroughly fascinating album, I watched it on slideshow and enjoyed viewing the varied expressions on these interesting faces. I too, love to photogrph people but it is becoming almost impossible here, to do so.   • I've been smiling all along this album, dear Ruggero. Just because all this is pure happiness and we can feel the real and sincere pleasure you had to do this work. Sometimes I just wonder if I haven't been fighting for false reasons for so long... By shoting my landscapes all the time and trying to make my green messages been heard, it seems that I've just forget that there were some men living on this planet. My god! Those shots and all these people are really real!

I wanted to reply to your message earlier, but I was just rolling with laughter, esp because of your observations on our tribal dance! :-D I can't believe it was copied by Italian business trainers, ha ha ha... Now seriously, Thank you for your wonderful message. Our hikes are often frustrating because there is not much time to enjoy the views and take pictures. I often ask myself why do I need these hikes which are so difficult, and sometimes dangerous (because we go out of official trails). On the other hand, I really like the people and the atmosphere. These hikes really cut you off from your daily routine. And, yes, there is special pleasure after facing challenges, especially in the company of such special people ;-) as you could have seen for yourself. Molti, molti abbracci, my friend. Hai ancora la mia lunga (e ormai antica) e-mail a portata di mano oppure, stanco di vederla, la hai cestinata? Comunque, era ora che queste immagini uscissero allo scoperto, con la loro impressionante nitidezza e precisione del dettaglio anatomico di volti, espressioni ed atteggiamenti. La serie di foto con i bevitori di vino e birra e' eccellente (oltre che divertente), perche' dimostra la tua prontezza nel cogliere al volo queste scene in mezzo alla generale confusione tipica di questo genere di manifestazioni popolari. Sono entusiasta di questo tuo lavoro, che ho gia' visto interamente due volte; sono tornato (e tornero' ancora) spesso a vedere qualche singola immagine, scoprendo ogni volta nuovi particolari significativi. Come sempre le tue simpatiche didascalie danno piacevolezza all'insieme testo/foto; ottima l'idea di inserire il testo originale della canzone di Mary Poppins. ... Mentre sto scrivendo Outlook mi ha avvisato dell'arrivo del tuo messaggio sul mio nuovo album ... tempismo, telepatia o solo abitudini in comune? Mah!?... Poeple are fascinating and they convey so many expressions. For me too they hold a special attraction as far as photography goes. The chimney sweep collection of your photographs is one of the very best I have seen in webshots. How many expressive faces from so many diverse nations! No one but you could have captured this so amazingly. It is also so very apt that this has been dedicated to our friend Orly. No one deserves this better. Thank you, Ruggero, for this wonderful feast of lovely pictures. I want you to know that I appreciate this very much. Thank you too for the kind sentiments expressed about the tsunami vistims in asia. Yes, it is very unfortunate.   • Dear Ruggero, is there at all space for me to comment on this fantastic work or am I running out of plane + time and your interest as a friend and admirer? You used to publish your albums on a different hours and then I was able to be first or second, not anymore, so I feel a little embarassed... Again and again you amaze us with your talent, there are no new words to say, they have been all said, once, twice and a zillion times..So simply I declare: &quot;magnificent, wonderful, charming&quot; and congratulate you. And once more I say WEBSHOTS is really crazy not seeing the beauty of your work...so many people have 3, 4 featured albums.. like yesterday completely dull and obscure work and they go on the top... incredible and sad...but we will not dwell on their stupidity ..   • Ruggero, ho capito perfettamente, penso che sia esattamente lo stesso caso in Olanda, ma praticamente fanno solamente problemi quando le foto vengono usati per meta commerciali o in modo che sarebbe svantaggioso al soggetto, per esempio suggerire che una donna qualsiasi fotografata sulla strada sarebbe una prostituta, che l'uomo fotografato sarebbe ubriaco o drogato; questo potrebbe succedere nell'ambito di una pubblicazione, per esempio un quotidiano, dove una foto potrebbe essere usato come sola illustrazione, ma in un tale ambito potrebbe suggerire un rapporto tra ritratto e l'articolo. Allora, penso che nell'ambito di un album diciamo 'artistico', sarebbe possibile fare degli problemi. Ma volio aggiungere che e sempre buono chiedere il permesso, per cortesia. Hai capito?

  • RUGGERO… Now that I had some time, I indulged on this album more deeply, and discovered more of its beauty and also great humor in its captions. In this album you take us all into a world of joy, a world of fairy tales, a world of men ;-)) Hmmm frankly I don’t remember much about the chimney sweep in Mary Poppins. I probably should watch it again. Anyway, I love all the photos here, and the collection of them all is really more than the sum of its parts, making us feeling as if we were there in that special place on that magical day. If I have to choose but a few favorites, I LOVE #1 and #3, it’s great to finally see them in full size. The smoker (12) is great. And your children’s friend… 28… All the children’s shots are great but this one is irresistible. #30 is very funny with your remark! 50 Oh happy day is fantastic!! I liked the tuba reflections in 56, but then in 57 I realized you could have done better with some more details!! ;-)) Of all the beer shots I most liked the closeup 59, almost makes me forget that I hate beer. And the last photo is indeed a happy and delightful ending for probably the happiest album I’ve ever seen. Thank you again for your kind dedication. I truly treasure it. This album is a real pleasure to view. It’s rare to see someone doing so well both in nature and human photography. I really hope that you can find more opportunities to capture people who will cooperate with your lens. You know where you can find many of those… Hmmm I don’t think there is a single chimney sweep in ISRAEL but it is surely abundant with variety of friendly and interesting people just waiting for you to take their pictures… Many VOICES OF PEACE… Until you come here all I can do is share you with little of those wonderful people as I see them… and practice my Italian. This album reminds me of one of my all-time favorite musicals, Mary Poppins, played by Julie Andrews. The chimney sweeps dancing on the rooftop with that joyful song Chim Chim Cher-ee. Io adoro la ritrattistica e queste immagini, benchè riprese durante la manifestazione, nonostante il movimento e l’inevitabile caos, sono assolutamente perfette, dinamiche, espressive, divertenti, perfette le luci, perfetta la spontaneità.   • Ruggero! Veramente meraviglioso! E pensare che i olandesi una volta pensavano che i spazzacamini siano esclusivamente degli italiani... Sono d'accordo che i ritratti sono il migliore soggetto per un vero fotografo, ma senti: qui in Olanda (en penso anche in Italia) non bisogna avere il permesso deglki soggetto quando hai fatto la fotografia in posti pubblici.
