I put my head in my hands and cried when I saw your photos. When I was a youngster I stayed at Trent Park every year,as my great uncle was head factotum to Sir Philip Sassoon,then Mrs. Gubbay. We stayed at 6,Rookery Cottages. Walked up Snakes Lane to the tube,and saw everything "my"beloved London had to offer. I used to walk in the woods,along to Cockfosters entrance,stand in the gateway,which Mrs.Gubbay NEVER locked,and felt like "Lady Muck"! Noone passing by gave ne a glance! Uncle Bert never went down to the lakes,as he had taught a young worker how to swim there. The man swam one day-and drowned/ It broke U.Bert's heart. I was never allowed to ride the old bike past the front of the Big House,in case the car from Buckinghamd Palace came,bringing Queen Mary every other month to borrow some cash from Mrs.G.,as she used to run out of her allowance. She was the Queen Mother at that time. I could go on and on,but I'm tearing up too much! We emigrated to British Columbia 32 years ago,when our younger son was 2.
