I was in Wertheim/Peden Barracks from 1979-1982 with HHB 72d FA and in Wurzburg/Leighton Barracks 2000-2006 with HHC 1ID. I saw the changes at Peden Barracks and was glad that unlike some of the other facilities in Germany these were being utilized. The stacks outside the back pedestrian gate near 3/35 looked real shabby. I loved being in Wertheim and did not realize how much until I left and was often saying to people that they needed to visit Germany and especially my place Wertheim. I plan on going back to Germany in a couple of years and will go back to my 1st duty station in Germany and see how it is doing.

Hello, I was transferred to Peden Barracks from a deactivated unit in Schwabish Hall. This was early 1964. I was a wireman and eventual team chief of a wire squad9long-line team). Oh! all those days and nights of laying and recovering field wire and the bitter cold; the CSMO's at zero dark-thirty in the morning. Because I was so young it was all fun and I had a great time (now that I reflect back on it). The photos bring a lot of memories to mind, thanks for posting them. I departed Peden Barracks in Feb 66 for the long train/boat ride back to the states. I did have additional tours in Germany but never the chance to re-visit Peden Barracks. The photos make me wish I would have had the time.

Hi, I served in the 212th MP Company based in Wurzburg, but my platoon was on Peden Barracks. I was stationed there from Dec. 1983 to July 1985. I don't know if the MP station was right at the main gate when you were there, but that's where I worked. My platoon, 3rd platoon was housed just up the street from the MP station in a bldg where the base flag was in front of. I think the bldg mostly housed some members of the 72nd Field artillery. I loved your pictures. Things hadn't changed much when I was there. "Tango Mike" for the nice web site. I have many pictures also. Haven't learned how to post them on a web site though. You know I really miss that place now. It was beautiful and great people, food, etc. I wish I would have appreciated it more while I was there. Take care and thanks again!!!

I was stationed with the 804th Med Detachment from 1954-1956. Really enjoyed your pictures! I wonder if the base is still open. Again thanks for the memories! John

I know Wertheim well and intend to visit there in 2003. My brother used to live in those very apartments off Peden Barracks and I lived in Kreuz-Wertheim for a while. Hailing from Tauberbischofsheim, I climbed up to that castle ruin many times. Left there in 1959. Great pictures, great memories.
