Hello, I am currently writing a novel partly taking place in Gander on 9/11. Your album definitely helps a lot visualizing this unbelievable period of time. I have been introduced to the story by my cousin who was in one of those planes. However, my cousin was flying KLM and for the sake of my story I need my characters to board a direct plane from France to the US. Would you be willing to answer some questions? I'd really like to get direct accurate information about the way things happened and avoid inconsistencies as much as possible... Thanks for your help, Best regards, Martin Fournier

Wonderful album! Thank you, dear Kaethi, for the wonderful comments in my Birds album! Yes, 4 of those bird eggs hatched out, and I thought I took a photo of them, but couldn't find it. Yes, I plan on entering the CC again when I have photos that fit the subject matter! Have a lovely day, sweetie! Hugs, June

I came across this album and was spellbound by thinking what you went through. I know other people who were traveling that day in the US and how quickly all the planes landed. A day everyone would like to forget, but we cannot let our guard down. Thanks for sharing. Carol

Hi Kaethi and Henry, I am glad that you sent me a memo about this album as the anniversary of the aweful episode is back. I hope that you are both feeling OK about it and maybe the warm welcome in Gander might have ease the bad memories. Thank you very much for the positive comments on my carnation album. Regards from Paul in Canada.

Hello Kaethi and Heinz, I'm sorry that I didn't see this album before. What an amazing experience! You certainly have your own 9/11 tales to tell. I'm so happy that all turned out well for you and that the wonderful people of Canada took such good care of everyone. I imagine that was your last trip to the States and Arizona? It seemed so strange in Tucson for those three days to have not one airplane in the sky. Thank you for sending me this link. Love, Carole

I think I am losing my mind. It was my friend who is a nurse also who cooked and cooked that week and it was a friend of my sister's who did the touring. Doesn't matter who, everyone did something, but I had two disasters mixed up--isn't that awful that so many terrible things happen that we get them confused. Be safe! As long as you were cared for then all is well. The world changed and we have to change with it I guess. Bonnie.

Hello! A friend came across your album and sent it to me. I live in Clarenville, Newfoundland, 58 years old and a retired Registered Nurse and now author and photographer. Check out my site and you will see loads of shots of Newfoundland and take a Virtual Journey back. My sister-in-law lives in Gander and cooked that whole week for the stranded passengers, and my other sister-in-law lives in Glovertown. Her and her husband drove people around and had their own little tour thing going just to help people whose country was in terror, to distress and enjoy our 'ROCK WITHIN THE SEA'. I am so sorry that it happened, my daughter lives in Calgary and she was terrified the Calgary Tower would be next and she had a new baby and was terrified something would happen. Nobody felt secure that day. I'm glad our people could help. Everyone pitched in as Newfoundlanders do, and helped the passengers who were in a state of shock and despair. They would do it all over again if necessary, as would I. My job was to take care of phone lines and cell phone calls. Our world changed that day. But when I see that warship made from the steel of the World Trade Center I cannot help but admire the American spirit. Blessings, Bonnie Jarvis-Lowe,Clarenville, NL My Site: http://community.webshots.com/user/jarvislowe Take a trip back! I'd love to have you!!

I found your site while reminiscing about my travels in Newfoundland. Isn't the internet wonderful? It's been years but I still remember the place like it was yesterday. You have a very interesting site and I found myself browsing it for a long time. I don't know when I'll ever be there again, but I made a lot of wonderful friends in places like Harbour Grace and Fox Harbour. I'll always remember them and their generous hospitality. My site is http://www.wasaga.com - if you ever come to Ontario - be sure to visit our beautiful town. It's not Newfoundland, but we are (almost) just as friendly.

Wow what a day to be travelling, Hello my good friends, I have been busy this last couple of days or so and have lost touch with wghat is going on, This must have been an incredible jouney, and stop over in one of the most unlikely tourest resort spots in the world, I wonder haw many people can say they have been to Gander. You both can, and got the pic's to be sure. I am still so pleased about you getting that feature it does show that good albums do get recognized. I have a few mins ago had another look. today I was out with an old frien of mine fishing and got a picture very clear of two damsel flies (I think) mating. not sure what kind at the moment but I am trying hard to find out. Good hunting and best wishes as always, Ken

What a wonderful first hand look at yet another aspect of the tragedies of 9/11/01. It's full of life and therefore shows not only the very unpleasant consequences of the attacks far removed from the immediate location, but also the resilience and warm generosity of those affected and those responding. This kind of first hand reporting of history is just one of the aspects of Webshots I treasure. Thanks again. ~~~~~Bob

Hi Henri and Käthi, Thanks for your message in my guestbook. Yes we were in Spain on holiday when we heard the news. We were in the supermarket when the first one hit, we heard it on the radio as we left... they thought it was a terrible accident! Later my stepdaughter sent me a text message telling me to get to a TV as America was under attack!!! The rest as they say is history. With immediate effect they closed all the airports and it was impossible to get through on the phone, but as I said, it was nothing compared to what you went through. What I did notice was that the Spanish (who I love dearly) did not seem to understand why the English were so upset about it all, unfortunately they know now!!! On a lighter note, I am so pleased that you liked the flower in my album. Just like you I have never seen one like that before. I bought it a few weeks ago in my local supermarket, it is a.... Chinese Primula. I have been looking at your desert albums; I would love to see the cacti in flower there. We used to have over one hundred cacti but had to let them go through lack of space. We now have just the one and we named him ‘Henry’, you can see him in my (Inside looking out) album, he is a Barrel Cactus and is a very big boy who measures 16 inches high by 49 inches in circumference. God Bless you and yours, Meg.......from England.

Hi Henri and Kathi, You had such a difficult time, makes ours seem as nothing in comparison. I have visited your albums before, but only came across this one because I was putting an entry in Vicky’s new album and read yours. God Bless you both, Meg from England.

Dear Kaethi and Henri, first thanks for all your supportive comments on my albums. This album brought back memories of my own sojurn on 9/11/2001. Mine was less difficult than yours - I was stranded first in London and then in Paris. Not so bad, but it took me 7 days to get back to New York. During the first days it was difficult because it was hard to learn the fate of my family which was in New York at the time. When I got to Paris I stayed with friends, the Peignoux who live in Chambourcy. Warmest regards. Lowell

Kaethi and Henri...This album is so emotional. Thank God you were ok. It was hard to sit in a plane so long and wait, and to wait for the luggage check, but I think it was important for the authorities to make sure everything was safe. But then I am glad you did get food and drinks and that you were helped. Did you fly on to Dallas or go back home after this? So many people died that day, but I am so grateful that you were safe. We will remember the ones that died and the all the ones that helped and the volunteers everywhere! hugs and love, Barbara...this is a beautiful album you put together.

Michel

I also am glad you have placed this album among all your others. I haven't seen any others that tell the story of your ordeal and of the genorosity of ordinary folk that did their best in an emergency. Nice to see a positive side of the event. God bless all of you. Greetings from New Zealand.

Thanks for the kind comments for my album "River Otters and mink" Your Gander experience must must have been rather scary. I hope we never have to experience something like that again, and thanks for posting the pictures as I hadn't seen very many on the conditions that you travellers had to endure. Vic
