  • Hi Ken. This is a wonderful album to view! I just love old buildings and other structures such as covered bridges. I like picture #59, with the reflection most of all but all the pictures are gems. Thanks for sharing them. Don

  • I just stumbled onto your old barn collection. It is great. I wish I had started such a project 30 years ago. Now many of those classics that I used to pass have fallen. Some are like valiant knights and refuse to fall, even after parts are gone. Great work.

  • This was gonna be a barn day, big daddy! Saw the awesome feature on cowboy art and the path was charted! This is such a great album. The Old Oklahoma wooden barn: I looked at that before in another album and swore you used some photo program on it. But this is a real reflection. Wow. I love it! Then the old barn from Athens area, priceless. The closeup of the old red barn is great, too. Another great stop in Ken's world, now it's off to the bone crusher...Happy Trails, my friend, Marita, Houston, Tx

  • Yikes!! So the bigdaddy turns out to be a Ken too!! I want you to know that along with being a 'Ken' myself, I'm also an old barn kinda guy too, and your albums on the barns are a light of inspiration. I'm going to collect up the barn pictures I have (which frankly are far too few in number) and make a barn album of my own. I'll even dedicate it to the bigdaddy...God bless and take care, Mr. Ken!!

  • Hi Ken! Thanks for your note regarding the "24 Favorite Photos" -- was not aware of this feature until tonight! Of course I must have one of your barn shots as a favorite! It's a hard choice but I think it will be from this album which is one of my favorite albums on Webshots! Thanks again for the GB message! Jayne

  • Hi Ken! This is an awesome collection of Old Barns, so historic and an American icon. The newest additions are fantastic, especially the reflections! Well done! Thankyou for your kind words in my Marine Life guestbook, it is such a wonderful surprise to be featured today, especially as so many of those fish were too fast for my camera. Best wishes.. • Hi Ken! It is always enjoyable to view an album of Old Barns -- they are so uniquely American and very different from our Australian Sheds. You have done an excellent job of capturing the atmosphere of the rural countryside. Actually, I dropped by again because I read your message in Tatiana's guestbook and from that it appears that you have also lost some albums. It is a devasting experience that I have just been through too. But don't give up, put the past behind and move forward with strength. Seasons Greetings to you and your family.. Gladys, Western Australia.

Such a blessing, and to think that each and everyday around the world the same magic is happening is a wonder. I soo love this album of old barns as there is just something magic about the olde buildings and what creation comes from within and so reminds me of my wonderful childhood on the land. They are certainly back to nature and just awesome, and it would have felt wonderful as you discovered each one!!..Soo Rustic and tks for sharing with us all!! I love to paint, and was wondering if you would be kind enough to allow me to use some of these in my paintings. Please let me know, as everybody loves paintings with the olde memories in them...Peaceful!!..Have a great day....Em from Aussie

Since you have such an appreciation for his photo's, I thought perhaps your imput regarding my paintings about his subject would be nice to hear. I don't blame you for liking his photo's, I live here now and he catches Netherlands perfectly.

  • Hello Ken! I can almost smell the country air. There sure are a lot of shapes and styles of wooden barns. I have seen a couple of round ones and wondered what the purpose was. Although restoring them takes away from their charm, it also preserves our heritage. I can't imagine any of these new metal ones ever being nostalgic. When I see a wooden one, I feel the heartbeat of America. God bless her and bring her back to Himself. I enjoyed your captions and liked your painting. Although I don't paint, I liked watching Bob Ross on PBS. Number 18 is my favorite. Thanks for the tour. God's peace. Shirley from Michigan

  • Hi Ken: Greetings from Kentucky. Many great photos of the barns. If they could talk, I am sure some would say as my grandfather once said, "My Word is My Bond,"if they could talk, I remember when neighbors were real neighbors. It was neighbors that built me. If we could only turn back the clock of time, when mothers, raised kids at home. Nice to remember. You have captured many barnes, that once upon a time, were the talk of the community. Nice to bring them back with our cameras. Thanks for all of the nice comments, in my guestbook. Take care, as Red Skelton would say, "God Bless," Darrell

  • What a great album. I have wanted to start one on farms and barns and you have inspired me to go ahead and do it now. I did see some farms SW of where I live and many of them were kind of a light green, about the colour of sea glass. Perhaps the close proximity to the ocean was the reason they chose this colour for their farms, but I was very intriqued because it became evident that it was such a regional thing. I am going back to take some of those pictures. Thanks so much for the inspiration. Best to you, Marjie from Olympia, WA.

After viewing your pictures, I was inspired to get out there and take all those pictures that "I've been meaning to take but haven't found the time!" There is truly some beautiful country here in Oregon. Thanks for sharing your pictures. I love this album, but then I loved all your albums. The old pictures of you and your brother from the 50s is priceless!! Thanks again and God bless!! Sincerely, Christy Rackley

My daughter did those, and the old house in Canyonville. She just got her own account this week and is transfering them now. Her account name is christyrack. • Ken: Thanks for viewing my North Umpqua album and for the kind comments you left in my guestbook. I love this barn album. It's sad, but it seems most of them here, in Oregon, are gone, now. When I was a kid there were beautiful old barns like these all over the place; many of them had "Chew Red Man" or some similar advertising slogan written on the side of them. Thanks for sharing this great album. Bill, in Oregon.

  • These are very interesting pictures, the old barns bring me back to my childhood in southern Ontario. Urban Sprawl has displaced most of the Classic Old Farm Buildings. Others, after being stripped of alot of their weathered pine boards by collecters/vandals fall victim to the wind. These pictures are very nostalgic for me, Thanks for sharing them.

  • Bonjour ! / Salut ! / Good day ! It's ruban114 !, Claude Samson. I saw that you look all my ruban115 albums. I wrote the titles for my first albums of ruban114. It's not evident to write a specific title for each pictures. My first priority was a quick publishing. I visited last september all the coast of Maine, from Lubec to Ogunquit area. I have a big lot of very good numeric pictures. For the moment, i wait to see if i can make a search of a specific title on webshots. I can get all the pictures of the 3 first albums of ruban114. No result for the rest. I'm disapointed for that. I did some good pictures in the last 10 days with the ices on the shore of the St-Lawrence river in Lévis, and some others good with a barn with a wind turbine (?) Excuse my english... I can send you some new pictures if you want to give me your internet address. Have a good day !

Boy, those barns sure bring back memories of growing up on the farm back in Illinois. The old barn is still standing up better than the house. Everyone is gone now and my brother and nephew farm the land and keep an eye on things. God is so great to bless us with all the beautiful scenery and family and friends to photograph. I sure hope you have a blessed Thanksgiving Day with your family. Thanks. Bob (and Sharon said Happy Thanksgiving too).

  • Ken, Congratulations on being featured today. This album reminds me of where Bob grew up--on a farm in Southern Illinois. The old barn still stands proudly, but everyone is gone now. I'm so happy to see that you were featured because you have been such an inspiration to others with all your encouragement. Thanks for sharing. Sharon

  • May I offer my sincere congratulations on this album and of course a very well deserved feature,Ken.I have already viewed the album but I am thrilled for you, being featured,it couldn't happen to a nicer man.I agree, the opening shot is a classic, but so many others are equally fine photos,Arkansas Barn off I-30 and Early Spring 2000 to name but two. This is a vitally important type of album as it shows so much of the culture and heritage of your country, you can see the different styles of roof as being built originally by settlers from different countries, the opening classic is what we refer to in this country as a Dutch roof and I expect it was built by settlers from Holland.Once again, congratulations Ken and thanks for all the encouragement you have given me,your friend in the UK,Rod.

  • What wonderful pictures of the old barns. It took me back to the less complicated times of my childhood. Many times I have driven up I-30 from Dallas to Little Rock and was keenly aware of the beauty of the area but now I wish I had left the black top for some of the dirt roads as you did...what wonderful pictures..thanks for the memories.

  • These are great pictures of old barns. They make great photographs. We saw many in our travels out west but did not think about photographing them. Of course that would not have always been possible while pulling a travel trailer. Mountains & waterfalls etc, were uppermost on my mind I guess. Thanks to your pictures I now have had the pleasure. Thanks for sharing! Flo

  • It's taken a few days for me to get through this album. It's wonderful...I just love old barns/buildings of any kind. I know I have seen the one from Whidbey Island, and have been to Eugene so many times I could have seen this one too! it's so strange to think that living so far apart we have seen so many of the same things. I like the "Hidden Barn North Texas" Sitting in a dip around all the trees, my favorite is "Arkansas Barn off I-30" Though you really can't see the barn that well, the trees to the right have such perfect color to them, the photo is wonderful...Lina

  • Ken-you sure can make an artist crave to grab her palette and being work recreating one of these beautiful barns. They also bring back fond memories of when I used to sit in tall, tick-infested grass at my grandma's house and sketch her old, rickety barn.

  • Old Wooden Barns have a place in the history of our country. If only the lumber could talk and share all that has taken place with each old barn we see throughout the countryside. There are all shapes and sizes of them all over the entire nation. One just has to search and find them. These are Great..Thanks for sharing a small bit of history.
