Great barn shots Ken! We too have lots of old barns in my Oregon. I keep saying I should go on a barn hunt, but living on a farm keeps me busy. Now it is spring and I am so behind in my visits, sorry I haven't been around much here in WS. I am thinking you left a message in my Nannygoose albums not long ago, didn't look there before coming to visit you, just saw your name in another members site. So saying thank you if you did visit my latest albums. Take care, Laura

Hi Ken. I have had a wonderful time exploring these old barns with you. We dont get them like this out here! I did find one a couple of years ago that was being used as a museum, and that's about all. Beautiful photos and I can't believe that it's so long since you first posted this album! Thanks again for manfully wading through all my albums - you're really going to love me when I tell you there's a whole heap more albums in my georgieboy05 site LOL - some rural stuff in there, too, from a trip we did last year. Thanks mate, once again and also thanks for telling Jane, who has already been in to see a couple of albums. Catch you later, all the best, Peter

G'day again Ken - while I still had my hiking boots on after wandering through your first wooden barns album, I thought it a good time to wander more of your great countryside. It's so much fun travelling this way, enjoying the view through the eyes of a local, and soaking up the atmoshpere around each of the barns. Thank you so much for a lovely afternoon and your hospitality. Look forward to touching base often now my friend, regards, Lorraine.

Hello Ken. Thank you so much for taking the time to stop by the day of my Warwick Castle feature. It was good to hear from you and I appreciated your very kind words. Now it is my turn to congratulate you on your interesting feature on old wooden barns, albeit a few years late, lol! In January 2003 I hadn't heard of Webshots. I only became a member last year. Bet it's a lovely feeling to drive out somewhere and stumble upon one or two new barns, which you can add to your collection. Best of luck in finding some more. Jayne/West Midlands, UK :) xx

Ken, thank you for your kind comments on my featured "Mountains&q uot; album of 15 Nov-I've been playing catch up. I've never seen so many barns in all my born days, I'd have to drive thirty miles just to see the closest one around here, but we do have a few here and there. You've made Oregon I see, caught Interstate 80, at least you've been this far. Hope you liked the trip. Houston was my birthplace back in the dark ages. Thanks for letting all of us view your thoughts through your camera. Don't stop taking pictures. Appreciate your work. Ron

Hi Ken! I love this old barn collection. The fact you have to look for them in back roads must greatly add to the charm! You can hear the silence..... Since I am having photography as a hobby I am very grateful to have so much old beauty around us Europeans. The most beautiful things can often be found within a half hours drive. And also Rome, Paris and Venice etc are not really far.... Have you ever been to Europe Ken? Thanks for your kind words in my albums! Greetings Anna

Hi Ken, another charming set of the Old Americana. I notice that you are fascinated with old farming architecture. In our area, unfortunately not many old structures are left. They are gone thanks to modernization. Ken, thank you for your very, very kind comments under my albums. I am pleased that your view on photography and sharing captured scenes offered to us by God are like a daily prayers. You said very rightly about God gifts given to us! For some can be “politically incorrect” and that is their problem! For me, it is my passion and my sharing.

Hi Ken, What a delight to find your photos of all these old barns! Wooden barns are scarce as hens teeth in the El Paso, Texas area. Mostly what is found here these days are ugly, modern metal structures. I have such fond memories of playing in my grandparents' barn in Georgia as a girl, and enjoying driving by many wooden barns in Northern Virginia where I was reared. I took them for granted then, and sorely miss them in my environment now. Thank you for your kind words re: my albums. I'm pleased that Marianne (bowlingranny) was kind enough to send you for a visit, and thus bring me to view your wonderful photos. Blessings, Charlotte chargerfree@mindspring.co m

Ken. I am amazed at the amount of albums you have and I have just enjoyed 4 or 5 of them. I loved them all. Visited your old churches and in particular loved the architecture of Floyd Methodist church, Central Christian church at Pilot Point and First Baptist church at Palmer. Then I had to visit the old barns, which I enjoy too. And I love hot air balloons. Have you been up in one? I am still hoping to go again. Been up just once and it was the best. You are so right about who has blessed us with His creation and beauty. He certainly has blessed me this morning through your photography. I have added you to my favorites so that in due time, I can visit all your albums. Thank you also for your comments on my albums. I was certainly surprised to learn through all the nice comments that I had an album that was featured for the day. It has been like receiving gifts this week. God bless you. Dynna

Love the barns. You have to admit, theres a lot of romance to a barn. When a barn shows in the horizon, you know all are curious as to what there may be with it. Could be a small animal or just an old dog chasing the chickens. We all love em ,no two ways about it. I feel our farmers are our true national treassure, hope we dont abandon them so the next set of vibrant pictures of barns are full of life and energy. Love your shots Ben from Skokie Ill.

Thank you for the kind words, Ken. All I do is put everyone else's creations (with their permission)together for The Lord. He guides me so any kudos go to Him. After my Pop saw them, he said I was showing my "quirky" ; mind:) I told him I was just a pointer and The Spirit does the guiding. Let me know when you find mistakes. Restored and Repainted Old Barn. This is a beautiful scene. You have captured it perfect. I would like to know if you have any idea how the featured albums are chosen. All the members have such beautiful shots, at least the ones I enjoy looking at, so I am most curious as to how they are picked for a featured album. Mine that was chosen in April was not one of my favorites, and I just wondered if you know how this works... You are almost always the first to sign all the featured album guestbooks. I love reading your inspiring comments on the photos of other members albums. You are a most faithful viewer. If you could shed some light on how you think they are chosen for the featured album of the day, I would appreciate the info. Thank you for shareing all your beautiful photos and all the nice comments on all the other members albums that you make time for. I am sure they appreciate you as do I. segseven, OKLAHOMA

Dear Ken. I saw your album on the day of featuring. But no time to write. But now I am ready to write. I like this album, most about the differences between USA and Holland. In USA much more land, in Holland more urbanished. Therefore in USA less interest for beauty and old barns stays. In Holland more modern. Also you can see that you have more hot summers. Yellow grass. In Holland green. And so on.A good collection of your barns, but where are the homes of the farmers? Greetings of Henk from Holland and God bless you and yours.

An excellent collection of a part of our country's history. These structures sure add a lot of character to the countryside. We have a pony barn that we hope to restore . The original owners took good care of it but became rundown when their health became bad. Congratulations on a well deserved feature.

Wow Ken, this is really great! Congratulations on this featured album today! I share your joy about this because we are featured together today. The old barns are very interesting. We don't have a lot of these barns here in the Netherlands, but I think that is because in the old times the barns were build into the farmhouses here. So we have a lof big old farmhouses here with the barn inside! Let's joy together about our featuring today! Bye and greetings from The Netherlands. Diana.

After all the encouragement you have given to others on Webshots, you certainly deserve to be featured. The loss of all these old barns to urban areas or just because of the demise of family farms or the low incomes of farmers in gereral (to be able to afford to keep them up), is trully alarming to see. You know, Ken, you might have taken some photos of landmarks that won't be around for too much longer. Congratulations on being featured and on the photos of the old wooden barns. My folks' old barn is still standing; I think it is in better shape than the old farmhouse. No one lives there anymore, but my brother lives a few miles down the road and checks on it frequently. Thieves break in, but there's nothing there to steal; there's only memories now. I hope God continues to bless you and your family in the new year. Bob

Ken, I look at your 'Wooden Barn' albums periodically watching for new photos. And here is another one from Farmersville, TX. Having lived in Sherman for 15 years all of the names of the small towns around your area are familiar to me, including Celina. It brings back fond memories for me. Thank you. We are leaving for a 2 week trip to Toledo, Ohio on Wednesday. We will be traveling I70 across Kansas to St. Louis and then North and returning on I80 through Nebraska. I certainly am going to keep my eyes open for some really interesting barns. God Bless you from a friend in Colorado.....Donna

These are wonderful old wooden barns pictures you have here in this album too.As good as the featured album. I appricate the fact that you give all the credit to God as the Creator amd don't take credit for your pictures. Yes God makes everything available for us to enjoy because that's how it was in the beginning when God Created everything beautiful and perfect. You have a wonderful way with words in the comments you make in the other albums I view. That is a wonderful thing which you do for others. Thanks riverman

Ken, BOTH of your Old Wooden Barn albums are worthy of being chosen as a featured album. I certainly hope that honor is bestowed upon you in the near future. Jane and I grew up on a farm and there was a beautiful old barn close to the house. It has long since been torn down and I am hoping that among all of my pictures I come across one someday. Thank you for taking those back roads to find these barns. That is about the only place they can still be found. God Bless from Colorado...Donna

Hi Ken, taking a stroll through your latest album of old wooden barns reminds me so much of movies I saw in earlier years. Scenes of rural America touch my heart deeply. One day I will visit you and see these icons of the past for myself! We don't have anything quite like them in Australia. It's great that you take the back roads to get the images. God bless you Ken, for pictures that evoke such feelings within me. Your mate, John
