Hi Ted, looks like you've been busy again! very nice album. Have you bought any new lenses? You're certainly doing well with the ones that you have. I think I'm about to be seduced by the new Canon 16-35 F2.8L II I have 3 or 4 more I would like, but I think that it will be my next purchase. Carol and I will likely be joing Shirley (Home_Base) again in October for a Fall trip. Just might be Utah this time, we'll see. Love your Aircraft albums, my wife worked on 16's for years. Her albums are listed under "Carolincv" Take care, always a treat to see new images from you. Randy

Hi Ted, I just chanced upon this album of the midwest, and since I'm from Minnesota, which is part of it, thought I should take a look. You are a wonderful son to do this for your mom. I've been to all these places and it's fun to see them through your eyes. Your mom, as I said in a comment, is one of few who are anxious to see North Dakato. ( I do have some friends there). Love your photos. Sharon

Hi Ted, I enjoyed this album very much, especially the photos of Devils Tower. As a 20-year resident of the upper midwest, I'm sad to say that I've never visited some of its best features. I need to change that! Thanks for your very kind comments on my Tokyo album. Best, Marisa

Hi Ted! Thank you for the beautiful pics. They really touched my heart! I am especially fond of the sunrises & sunsets over the mountains & oceans. Do you have any suggestions for off the road, out of the way, not normally visited places that you found while on your trips? We are planning a trip from TN to Durango, Co via I40 next month and just wondered if you had found any of these out of the way places that you would recommen we see on our way out or back. We will come back thru Pikes Peak then to Denver, up to Cheyenne, WY and back across I80 to Lincoln, NB. So any suggestions along the way would be appreciated. We always see the normal sites, but we have a fascination with finding the little out of the way places. Thank you for any suggestions you might have! Again thanks for the beautiful photos! Brenda

Oh yeah, Ted! To me, one of the man made (Rushmore)and one of the natural wonders of the world(Devils Tower)! As always your awesome photos really do the place justice. I had to put on the brakes again not to clutter you with photo mails, LOL. We were lucky enough for a really quick visit when traversing the country from Michigan to Oregon in 5 speedy days when we moved to Singapore. One day I'd love to go back and actually spend some time there: Thanks for sharing your trip with us, mate. Looks like you all had a great time, wonderful you took your mom along too! Good Evening Ted. Thank you for visiting my Yosemite 2004 album. That was my first trip and I had such sensory overload. My best friend and I are planning a two week trip for next September before the snow flies. Unfortunately, the falls will be low with water, but the trees should be turning golden and that is okay. This album is awesome, by the way. I really enjoyed your trip to Devil's Tower. That is a goal down the road. My friend has never been to any of the National Parks here in the West and she lives in California! So, we are starting to make trips each year. Our husbands don't enjoy the same activities, so we do it alone. Thank you again for the kind comments. Lynn, Bonanza/Oregon, USA

Hi, Ted! Very impressive album!!! Devils'Tower is really something to see!I'll never have a chance to see these locations in reality, therefore I appreciate browsing such albums as your and travel at least virtually. I've done you wrong as I haven't thanked you for being so kind and visiting my feature of mid-September(the day-trip to Hakone) and I would like to do so now and add to it another pair of Thank You for the visit at my feature on Halloween day. Both features at such short distance makes it very difficult to do the rounds and thank everybody....but I give it a try!Friendliest regards from Yoshiyuki Tanaka

Hello Ted. Just dropped by to thank you for your kind words with regards to my recent feature. I appreciated you taking the time to call. I know I've viewed this album of yours before, but it's just as wonderful the second time around. I am SO impressed with your shots of Mount Rushmore... I'm also very excited to find out that you have a Canon Digital Rebel camera, because today hubby has bought me a very early Christmas gift, a Canon EOS 350D, which we believe is the same camera as you have. So..... have you any tips or advice to offer me on how to get the best results from it. I've beeen trying out macro shots and I'm not pleased with the results at all. Have you bought a special macro lens? Any advice and help would be most welcome. Finally..... if you would like to choose a favourite photo from any of my albums, I shall be more than pleased to add it to those of my Webshots friends. Look forward to hearing from you. Kind regards, Jayne xx

Please check out my newest album of my SD blitz tour. The Needles Highway was closed due to snow, but I think Iron Mountain Road may have compensated somewhat.

Hi Ted, congratulations on this wonderful album! I particularly enjoyed the telephoto shots of Mt. Rushmore. We've been to Wyoming and Montana several times, but have never made it to North Dakota or even eastern Wyoming so I particularly enjoyed this album. I didn't realize that you live anywhere close to the area affected by Katrina and now Rita. I hope you were not affected too badly. Last year we lost part of our roof to Charley so I know how difficult a time this can be. Best of luck to you and yours and remember that as long as it's only property damage, patience will bring final victory. Greetings from Florida, Paul. P.S. Thank you for your kind words on my Zion album.

Italia and my Alps are a beauty, but they are so little!!! Fantastic places (Mt Rushmore, Crazy Hores mountain and the INCREDIBLE Devils tower) and a GREAT photography are the perfect mix of this album. In true the quality of your photos is very high and it was really difficult choose my favorites. Anyway they are: 3, 24,30, 37, 48, 51,53, 57, 85 and 90 8 (not an important information, but....). I'm also impressed by situation in 34 (what a driver!!!) and for people in 67 (we are so little!!). To end.... My COMPLIMENTS and my CIAO! Ruggero

Happy belated July 4th! My goodness Ted, this is a wonderful comprehensive tour of some impressive monuments! It must have been a fun trip for your Mom as well! :) Great details of Mt. Rushmore! Certainly captured ALL facets of the intriguing and gynormous Devils Tower, really interesting tour! Love all the photos of the Buffalo/Bison they are such beautiful beasts with gentle eyes and a wild spirit! Liked your humour throughout the whole album as well. I have to say that the one photo that really just says it all to me for the midwest is "heading due north" shot. Flat, but beautiful! Many thanks for sharing this fantastic tour, really enjoyed every part of it! Wanted to send a belated thanks for viewing and commenting on my feature album in May, greatly appreciated! Kindness always and smiles to you, amy

Nice views, which I remember of course from Hitchcocks North by Northwest. As for your comment on my 'Fire' pictures: this of course was a typical case of 'Help me keep my big mouth shut until I know what I'm talking about', with the exception that as far as photography is concerned I know a little bit what I am talking about. My frustration leading to my remarks in that album was caused by the fact that the Webshots management have a growing tendency to feature albums with no discernable content at all, be they even out of focus or made by accidental pressing the shutter, as long as they are about something to the American far right. (Irak, the prez, flags etc.) I won't still let go off the illusion that WS is or might perhaps be about serious photography, but no. The problem is they have the best uploading software, compared with other sites like Morguefile or Usefilm. which are, by the way, a bit to highbrow to my mind. I am hard to please, I think and I am going to apologize to the poor 'colleague' who was zo proud of having made pictures of the prez and his plane.

Thank you so much for sharing your journey in this way, I saw DT and MR in the 70's but haven't been back since, and I don't think they had the trail around it then, either. Your comments and many pictures made me feel like I was able to make the journey myself, and I'm sure they were a delight to your mom, who missed the various views. I had to laugh when the album came to ND, though. I was born there, and even though we moved away, every time we went to visit I can't remember a single thing that there was there to see. So, you showed the sign, then you showed the sky as you left, how like my memories. You should be very glad you went in nice weather, it gets deadly cold in the winter. Again, thanks for sharing, Jeanie from Tacoma WA (now)

Hi Ted, first of all: thank you so much for your wonderful messages in the last month. I'm happy you liked my 'blue' and my 'power color' albums. Em will paint one of the 'power colored' images and so I am wandering up there on clouds of happiness! :-) This new album of yours shows some of the very well know and most probably most photographed monuments of your amazing country - but you always have a way to make it new and interesting with new angles and views. I love those close-ups of THE celebrities up there on Mt. Rushmore, face by face! Wow! Unbelievable! Then I was overwhelmed by that 'wide angle scene' of the rock formations at the other side of Sylvan Lake'! What a shot!! The other monument, The Devils Tower, I've seen it in a lot of albums, but never realized from how far it is to see in the flat scenery. I see too, you played a lot around with your 'Rebel'! :-) Thanks for that! It is like walking around there, looking up and more up and then close and closer! Lovely! I love that impressive view of the rock garden! Thanks for introducing your mother. I'm sure she was thrilled! And thanks for the wonderful skies all around the album. Have a wonderful day! Galit from Israel

Hi Ted and I am in awe at the grandeur of the scenery in this part of the world - and also at your ability to capture it so well. We sure have a lot to thanks Messrs Eastman and Kodak for in introducing us to photography - it would have been a pretty drab old world without. Now I'm going to follow Ken and take a second, longer look at your feature album. Cheers for now, Peter. Ooooops, I almost forgot to thank you for your kind words in my John Forrest National Park album. That was a great, mid winter day out! All best wishes, Peter

Hi Ted! What a wonderful treat for your Mom. I've been to Mt. Rushmore, but we never made it up close and personal to Devils Tower. Great photography. And your Mom got to visit North Dakota before I did! :-)) I think I'm about 3 states, not counting Alaska and Hawaii, short of seeing all the US. Wish we were lots younger and could travel much more. Thanks for your wonderful slideshow and also thanks for the congratulations on my featured album of A Midwest Spring. Have a wonderful weekend. Sharon

I enjoyed the album very much, and it ended so fast! Such great shots of famous Mt. Rushmoore, beautiful captures of the buffalos, and wonderful views of the amazing DT!! I loved the combination of "Yesterday Mobile" with the beautiful nature. The "Curious Fellar" is fantastic! Hi Ted! Wow, what a spectacular album! Mt. Rushmore, the Black Hills, Devil's Tower and South Dakota are all so beautiful. Great photography my friend. Did you see the prayer tree at Devil's Tower? We were there 4 years ago, before digital, (scanning pictures isn't in my vocabulary!) and we thoroughly enjoyed it. So happy for your mom!!! What an accomplishment for her! She looks so happy in her pictures. Did you know that when they dug those tunnels, they planned on framing Mt Rushmore? What an amazing feat that was! The magical sky at Rapid City is beautiful...we stayed there for 3 days and saw some awesome lightening shows from the balcony of our motel. Thanks for sharing your wonderful vacation and your Mom's great accomplishment with us all...take care dear friend...hugs galore...Darlene

WOW Ted!! You have done a spectacular job here once again!!! I had to call my husband into the room when I saw the awesome closeups of Mt Rushmore that you captured. The details are fantastic! I have never seen the surprise tunnel view of Rushmore represented in anyone's albums either. I too was blown away by how miniscule the climbers were on DT. YIKES! But can you imagine the view from the TOP! So much to see. Departing Impressions onward was the perfect ending!! I so enjoyed the tour and I am sure the Black Hills are in our future (with Sturgis and all) so thanks for sharing and helping me fill out my itinerary!! Jeanie

Magical skies seem to follow you around, Ted. I never see them. I loved this album, it's full of great shots. You did a great job on Rushmore. I've never seen it from a distance, like you did with one of your shots. This appears to be a trip we should all be jealous of. Great album, thanks for sharing it. Alan
