Wow what pretty pictures! Thankyou for dedicating one to me that was nice. lol yeah thats alot of wheat and thats only the small feild out behind the house! We have several more feilds here in Garfeild Co. and a few more over in Whitman Co. Harvest was actually kinda small this year, at least for farmers in these 2 County's the winter wheat did well, but the crops planted in the spring diddnt do as good as normal, at least for us. Harvest lasts as long as it takes, some years longer than others this year we only used 1 combine and it took us about 1 1/2 months maybe 2, (I'm not sure yet we havent had our farm meeting, that happens this afternoon) just depends on the rain we get. To much rain beats the wheat to the ground or it molds, not enough rain or rain at the wrong time and it doesnt grow. and yes some farmers will grow other things in some of the feilds like hay and stuff to feed the horses and cattle during the winter. We dont run cattle anymore so we dont. Sure wish we did tho it was nice filling my freezer with beef we fed and grew on our own ranch! Well even with Harvest being slim this year we have had a very busy summer! we had a fire out by the mountians it burned 49,000. acres! (not on our land) but the whole town has been busy taking care of the fire fighters 1700 of them! plus the logging crews, the clean up crews and the tree planters. The city also decided it was a good year to update all our city water pipes and pumps. so we have been busy! so I best get my day started. I'm still working on my sun set pictures there hard to get good ones but when I have a few more I will post them and let you know.
