1607 not 1609, next time you go to the island visit the archaeological site, the actual fort site, and the new museum, which showcases over a thousands finds from the site. These are of course both on Jamestown Island and not at the nearby living museum off the island called Jamestown Settlement. Jamestown Settlement confuses many visitors b/c they believe it to be the site of the town and it never was, nor does it have any artifacts from the Historic Jamestown site over a mile away. It can howver as you know also be a cool place to visit b/c of the costumed interpretors and the ships.
