  • Gladys you have an amazing array of albums! The Swan RIver is just my first stop and only because it holds so many wonderful memories of my many fantastic vacations to WA, it is just one of my very favorite places! We've taken the boat from Perth to Freemantle down the Swan, even were joined by dolphins! Such a great trip! We also went up the Swan River wine region which is so quaint and relaxing, with cheese & chocolate factories, micro breweries, German beergartens/restaurants, and the great wineries. Black Swan used to be my fav you can even buy it here in Houston now! Gladys, I REALLY enjoyed my trip back to the Swan through your album. I've added you to my favorites so I can keep tripping Australia with you! Later Mate! Marita

  • Thanks for the Indian Ocean sunsets GB Gladys. In fact it didn't last very long because that great big black cloud was travelling fairly quickly and gobbled everything up within a few minutes. Was good while it lasted though! Peter

  • Hi Gladys. These additions are excellent and nicely compliment the rest of the album. Pity that between us we don't have some photos of what that area of East Perth used to be like some 20 years ago - wouldn't they make a good comparison eh? But who would have dreamed of ever taking photos as it was then!! And didn't Burswood used to be a cement works? Well it's certainly all changed for the better. Thanks for the show, Peter

  • Hi Gladys...This is a gorgeous album. Your shots are just awesome of the Swan River. I love the reflections of the urban renewal. THey are all so beautiful. All of the scenery is lovely and I like the street scenes too. My favourite is the peaceful walk...I am sure it is. Thank you for signing my feature album on Dutch cards. hugs from Canada, Barbara

  • Hello Gladys, between you and Peter, Perth is well covered by two excellent photographers, brilliant pictures in all that sunlight, the area around Trafalgar Bridge is really something. I read what you put in Laura's album about newest, and I agree I never changed my albums around util about 5 weeks ago, and have had nothing but trouble since, so its back to how things always were, Anything new stays on the bottom of the pile from now on. I always use newest as I did with this super album, so it is good advice I think for everybody if it stops all the confusion, Take care Ken

  • Hello Gladys, Saw you in Al's album and seen you in many a albums through out WS's. I'm always saying I need to visit Gladys someday. So today is my first visit I believe. I found this album just full of great photos, #26 my favorite. Love the depth you captured in that photo. The works of art sculptures made with trash left behind made me wonder what an artist in the USA would try and charge for his creation. We have one very simular to these, and the artist charged the town $30.000 to make it. It is so ugly, and must admit a real eye sore sitting along side our welcome to our town display. I find it pretty funny my self that the town was suckered in by this artist, but a whole lot of people are really protesting it. Well, dear lady come visit sometime. I hope to be back soon to see more of your albums. Take care, Laura

  • Thanks for letting me know about this one Gladys. It's great to be able to get photos like this in mid winter - in fact our light is probably better for picture taking now than it is in mid summer. Unfortunately at least half of them were so darn slow that I ended up having to make do with the thumbnails and there were a couple that came to a complete stop just over half way through. Annoying to put it mildly and it seems I am by no means the only one experiencing these problems. There's so much to see around the river isn't there and I'm glad you have managed to get the East Perth section because I have often thought I would have a look round there - ever since we met someone off the Indian Pacific about 4 years ago and drove over the bridge and into the City. To see some more of WA have a look at the albums of ghuddy (the search function will find it for you) and I have another whose name I have forgotten but I'll send it when it comes back to me!! Thanks again for this. Peter

  • Hi, Gladys Thanks for your comments on my Perth album... there used to be a way to reply to guestbook entries, but I couldn't find it, so decided to just leave you a message here. In answer to your question, no, I don't know the names of the buildings... a friend and I had just a half day in downtown Perth so we walked around (and all the way up to the park on the bluff) and I took pictures of the beautiful sights... what a great city there by the river! If you're interested, we just got back from a trip to S. Africa, Victoria Falls & Egypt and I have just posted about 100 photos (out of more than 3,000!) that you might enjoy. God bless, Rob

  • Hi Gladys, I just came to say greetings and ask you if you would like to join us at Eti's (etiswinford) WebShooters album. Many of your countrymen and women are there and I would like to see a complete set (LOL). Take a look. It would be great to be able to attach a face to all those great pictures. Greetings from Florida, Paul.

  • Hello Gladys, what a wonderful ramble by the Swan River. You give the viewer a sense of being there, especially as you share so much information about the highlights along the way. Perth is such a beautiful city, and your photos are a wonderful advertisement for it's beauty and charms. Magnificent photos as always; best wishes from Keith.

  • Hi Gladys, under normal circumstances that right-most picture might be a bit too light for the panorama, but in this case I think it added so much to the encompassing image that you were absolutely right to include it. As to the anhinga - I always thought that the name was just a local term, maybe from the Native Americans living in Florida. You mean that anhinga is actually part of the scientific name. Live and learn! They are fascinating birds - the smaller fish they seem to catch between their "jaws" similarly to a Cormorant, while the bigger ones they skewer and then pound them against something hard on shore to dislodge them from their bill so they can swallow them whole. On that note, let me say farewell for now and greetings from Florida, Paul.

  • Hi Gladys...just another beautiful album full of the grace of the Swan River. I just adored all of the shots and particularly the photo 'Between the Pylons' as it is just a gorgeous symmetrical photo Gladys. WONDERFUL!!! Something just seems to 'come at ya' in that photo and I totally feel like I am there and I think it is just terrific!! Some great new desktop downloads for me thank you heaps!!..You are the flower Queen Gladys and the Yellow Creeper...looks exactly the same as a beach flower that I have shot...name unknown...and yet yours doesn't have the succulent leaves? Amazing I reckon. I also just loved the 'Darter in Shadows'...and you must have been thrilled when you saw that capture as I know that I sure would be. Great pic Gladys and I loved all the information that surrounds the history of the Swan River and the wonderful ramble that you took us on..Tks heaps for sharing the beautiful reflections, gorgeous apartments and the pure beauty of the Swan River as it was a total joy! The Darters are outstanding and you captured it all beautifully. Take care and have a really great day...Huge...Em

  • Hi Gladys, I enjoy this album and just love to look at the Darters. They remind me of the Cormorants we have here, and it is enjoyable watching them. Thank you for sharing the photos. For me,it is a voyage around the world. Have a nice weekend. Judy

  • Hi Gladys. Beautiful mate !!. It's a beautiful river and I can't help but think how great it would be to live in any one of those apartments and houses alongside it. I loved the reflection shots of both apartments and the bridge/s. The darters are just a joy to look at with their wings spread and you got them just right. The last darter shot is probably my pick of the three but only because it's closer. If I ever take a photo and the sky comes out blue I'll be tickled pink....er...blue. Thanks for sharing Gladys. I wouldn't be at all dissapointed to see this album come up as a feature. Catch you later. Al..

  • Hi Gladys, What a beautiful place! I love the blue waters, blue skies and those great reflections. I enjoyed the way you took (I guess) the first three pictures and turned them into a panorama of Claisebrook Cove. This panorama gives a much better feel for the place than any single picture can. Are these residences? It would be great to live there. I was also please to see your pictures of the Darter. Here we call them Anhingas and I enjoy watching them pursue the fish underwater in the canal behind our back yard - sort of like a Cormorant. Wonderful album! Greetings from a very steamy Florida, Paul.

  • Hello Gladys! Interesting and beautiful new album! We like your comments, historical and others! Wonderful views with the blue water of the river and such nice reflections! Original view in 27! Are the beautiful Darters birds like herons? 14 and 15 are also from our favorites as well as the very nice clivias! Thanks for sharing! One of the wonderful places we will never go! Hugs, Henri and Käthi
