Another beautiful album. What a variety of people and gorgeous places. I looked up the Southern White Rhino on the Louisville Zoo website and here's what I found: http://www.louisvillezoo.org/collection/animals/MammalFS/Rhinoceros.pdf . Maybe my cataracts are causing the camera to see in light beige colors. I even talked to my daughter and she sees them in the same color there as I do, but she's color-blind, so that's not much help! Anyway, I didn't change their color in any software programs--maybe they were sunburned. :-) Hugs, Sharon

Dear Marita, thank you for your enthusiastic support. I agree with Gabriela that the quality of the featured albums could improve. However, let us face it; WS is a commercial enterprise, and they need to encourage ordinary members to become premium ones; so, they feature them. I have nothing against this commercial strategy. My point is this: the featured members, especially the first-timers need to be encouraged, even a single line of 'congratulations' would go a long way. Secondly the 'featured albums' need to find a place adjacent to the POTD to give it prominence. Best wishes, Suresh

Liebe Marita! Danke fuer Deinen Besuch in meinem Album "Karlsbad / Tschechien". Dort und in Marienbad waren wir leider nur ein paar Stunden. Es war ein Trip von Bayern aus. Aber mir hat es dort sehr gut gefallen. Die Haeuser sind wirklich gut erhalten oder neu restauriert worden. Wir hatten einen Stadtfuehrer, der uns viel interessantes erzaehlt hat. Das Wetter meinte es auch gut mit uns. :0) Deine Fotos von der ganzen Welt sind auch nicht zu verachten. Du hast sehr schoene Fotos in Deinem Album. Thanks for sharing. Hello Marita! A great album of shots around the world! So representative and so well photographed! The people pictures are extraordinarily good, especially the one of chinese man feeding the pigeons! I enjoyed this album. Yes, WS looks very bereft, almost as if it is in mourning. There seems to be lack of enthusiasm, lack of warmth. People seem to go through the motions without their heart being in it. I have looked at other sites, even uploaded an album in one of them. However, I must concede, I am not comfortable there. Though many of my friends are there, I still feel like a stranger. Having to start making friends all over again is a very daunting task. I have decided to stick it out here unless the whole character of WS changes for the worse. I am glad to see many of my friends like you are still here. It gives me a great deal of comfort and assurance. I hope WS will slowly limp back to normalcy after having skidded into an abyss. Thank you for all the warm comments in my Nepal album. Hi Marita, You asked if Roberto's equipment was weighing on him. Good point. I have to admit that he was tired and slightly complained about how heavy his camera was. Besides it was really hot and humid. I bought small camera to avoid having to drag it in a heavy, separate bag. But if you liked my pictures, I can't even imagine what his will look like. Hi Marita, Thanks for the compliments in my Country Drives album. Those green rolling hills were an amazing sight. There were lots more pics I could have taken if not for the narrow roads that I couldn't stop on. I was actually heading for the famous hut from Man From Snowy River but decided about 20km out that my car wasn't going to handle the rough road. I don't know anything about an aboriginal mural at Bowral. Most of us know Bowral as the birthplace of an australian sporting legend .. Don Bradman the cricketer. I wouldn't expect that many of your countrymen would be familiar with cricket. Crepe myrtles .. we have lots of them. Love them ! The weather is cooling here so I haven't been out with the camera as much lately. The wattle blossoms should be out soon. Sorry for the late response. Social life has been busier lately. Hi Marita, Thanks again for your compliments. I find Melbourne fascinating. It doesn't have the beaches & beach culture of Sydney & many parts look old fashioned/romantic & rather English. There's lots of remnants of the opulence of the 19th century gold rush era. My new camera is a Fuji Finepix F810 digital .. 7.2 megapixels. It's very small & a few too many pics have suffered from camera shake resulting in blurred images & the rechargable battery seems to run out too quickly at times. Have just bought a tripod because I'm heading off on a couple of country trips & want to make sure I get steady images. Cheers, Michael.

Hi again Marita, couple of the sunset shots where i'd played with the colors ... i'd applied a filter to them when i took the photo so couldn't do much to getting back to the 'right' color! However, that 1st one in the Vietnam folder - THAT was a true play with color, the sky was originally the same color as the sea!!! As for taking photos of people, I know exactly what you mean. It's hard sometimes. A few of mine, you might notice, are taken from the back and also with a zoom so aren't the best! But what I found was that people love seeing their photos (the joys of digital) and sometimes, once they've seen the 1st, they'll insist you keep taking more! Kids in particular are photo crazy! I don't know if you've already seen my 'Many Faces of the World' album already - i've got a bunch of people photos (from various other albums) in there - I'll have to update it to include a few more photos from the Vietnam and Laos albums though. And as for YOUR b&w album - why doubts about putting it out there? Apart from the fact that the album's great, my humble opinion is that you should just put out there whatever you want to cuz it's about YOU, what you think of the photos and how you feel about not, not what others think! Anyway ... I will now take my humble opinion and go get ready for work! Wonderful pics Marita, that croc looks just as fierce as one I took which lunged at me and got its teeth caught in the mesh. I got a full throatal lol. I didn't hang around to see if it was coming any closer though. Must put that one in my piccies. Hey there! I had a giggle at your message in your 'be my friend' invite!! very cute! I totally agree - there's just not enough time in the day. But don't you worry about keeping up with me .... I've got one last album to put onto Webshots (of Ecuador) and just bits and bobs and then I'm out of photos! However, am heading to New Zealand over Easter so will have more from there. Hi Marita! Ilike your favorite photos, they appeal to my sence of what's nice. my favorite is the reflection shot of the Japanese Imperial Gardens, it's beautiful. Hello Marita, May i say thank you for all the kind words and encouragement you have given me and Babs for our pictures. We have both started this hobby just a few months ago, starting off with Kodak and Canon compacts, we have now just upgraded to Minalta Digital Slr's. I consentrate on Panoramic views while Babs is the Arty picture taker of the team. Hi Marita, What a dilemma - all these pictures are so wonderful - but if I must choose, it would be #16,the Singapore kitty in the window. It combines my love of cats and architecture in a beautiful photo. But it was touch and go between that one and the Balinese Wood Carvers - so evocative. Hi Marita. Now, you really have put me at the edge of tears... Seeing one of my photos between the photos of so many good photographers... It is a real honour and I appreciate it so much! Thank you so much. You are one of my favorite members but to choose one of your photos to put it in my favorite photos will be, for sure, very difficult, because you have such wonderful photos. But I'm going to try. After seeing this album the job looks even more difficult! It is really great! That crocodile reflection is outstanding! And that tired old man sharing is bread with the pigeons is GRAND. A person's good nature reveals itself in these small details. You are very attentive to the people, and to animals, too. Your nickname couldn't be better chosen. You really are a worldtripper. That chat in photo number 5, the beauty in photo number 8, and that almost imperceptible cat in photo number 16, as well as that perspective of the fruit salesman in photo number 20 are the proofs of what I wrote before. And I loved the white egret, the aerial view of Sharks Bay and those ducks having a ride on that giant lillipad. Impossible to visit one of your albums without write one of this long wills.
