Album Description:
It took 20 years for me to get back to my birthplace. So much had changed and, yet, a lot was the same. Photos all taken with an SLR and slide film and now scanned!

Dear Leslie - Wonderful album! Your beautifully composed photos of this fascinating city are a delight to view! I especially enjoyed the scenes of everyday life. Thank you for the tour! And thank you so much, my friend, for all the very kind comments you left on my Vernazza POTD and Hiking Cinque Terre album. I appreciate it very much. Take care. Kathy

Such a lot of wonderful pictures, I paid 2 visits to Hong Kong 1981, 1983, and visited most of the places in this album and all the memories of those 2 trips came flooding back, thank you for that...

Hi Leslie, this an amazing collection here. I commend you on this album, well organized and so well thought out. This is truly an oustanding album. A complete jungle of highrises, great stunning scenery in amongst all those millions of people who live there. You must have lived there at one time, did you? Once again thanks for the invite....Take care, Larry/Winnipeg

Hello Leslie. Thank you so very much for sharing this most remarkable journey with us here at Webshots. I can only imagine what a nostalgic trip this must have been for you. How wonderful for you to re-live your childhood memories and revisit so many familiar places. You have captured so well the 'picture' one has of Hong Kong. I was in awe of many of your photos. Such a culture shock to us here in the west. How long did you live there for and did you have any difficulty is settling down to a Canadian way of life in the early days. We'll be leaving for the USA this Easter. Visiting Albuquerque, New Mexico. Don't know what to expect, but I'm still counting down the days. Take care. Hugs, Jayne xx

Beautiful album! It's a journey back in time for me, since I've been to Hong Kong 24 years ago! About your question ... I haven't got any real answer. They told me the album was featured in the member's choice area and they don't have control of that, but normally features do not disappear and should not do it! Ciao Roberto

I remember those wild bus rides out to Stanley .. we always sat on the top, in the front seats on the right ... just for the thrill of it. Often it felt like we would go over the cliff instead of around the bends in the road!

Hi I had to take a stop in Hong Kong again this AM! I love to see this place thru your eyes! Actually I was visiting my Singapore Album this morning because I really was homesick! And I decided sometime the next few weeks I'll make an Album just for the Raffles Hotel, your messages just reminded me what an awesome place it is it deserves a special honour. I hope you're having a great weekend! marita

Wow, Leslie! What an awesome experience that must have been after the long absence going back to where you were born! Must have been overwhelming?!?!I enjoyed especially your off-the-beaten-track photos, there is just so much to see and experience there. I only had 3 very short days and was on the road, morning, noon and night. Last day of chinese new year, year of the horse. No digital camera yet, what a shame. Most impressive to me were the bird and flower markets and tight living quarters of Mong Kok, including the night markets. Wan Chai at night. The whole mid-levels area, the snake-soup backalley restaurants, the chinese medicine shops, the hollywood area with the casket makers(I know, morbid!) and the paper afterlife gifts, paper money, houses, cars etc. It is such a city of contrasts, the ultra-modern and a few steps away the ancient culture and beliefs! Definitely one of the most exciting places I ever visited! Thanks for this album! Marita

Hello Leslie, first may I say how many memories this brought back for me, I remember being anchored on a bhoy of the China Fleet Club during a Typhoon when the Kowloon Ferry broke loose and narrowly missed us, still painted green I see in the early 60's. and secondly thanks for making me a fav I am very flattered. take care Ken
