Album Description:

Tanna has many attractions but the volcano, the custom villages (John Frum cult), the coastline and the spiders and other little things are what kept me occupied.

  • What a neat album! I don't even know where this is, at the moment, but both the people and the scenery look largely natural. The people are beautiful, and their photo portraits are excellent. I felt sorry for the albino boy--he probably has a hard time of it because of his difference, and some of the children seem to have some serious sores on their legs. Paradise isn't all that it seems, is it? Very enjoyable armchair visit! Thank you.

  • Hi Steve - what a fantastic album! Those volcano shots are just something else! I was in the general vicinity of Tanna last year but didn't land - and the volcano was asleep then! Keep up the fabulous work.

  • Dear Steve, I could just repeat what Carolyn below has just said because thats exactly what I think of your pictures. I love the way you can adapt to taking so many different kinds of pictures Your portraits are just wonderful you manage to capture the person so well everytime The long exposure on the volcano is just stunning and then your macro shots of the spiders and moth is just great too. Like you I don't think that male spider had long to live :-/ Thank you so much for bringing your wonderful pictures to webshots Take care Jill

  • Hi Steve, another great series of shots. By the way, is #7398 Phallus impudicus "stinkhorn"? Usually that has a darker colored honeycomb at the top containing the spores. You have some great pictures of fungi from all over, and most are not that familiar to me. The portraits are fantastic, and some of the scenes are delightful and beautifully composed. Thanks for posting, regards from Phoenix, Haig

  • Hi Steve. It has been a privilege to follow you through such a beautiful and stunning album. I loved your people portraits, landscape is powerful, your bugs macros are great and volcano photos are smashing but I must tell you: the best of all, it has been to see those aboriginal men with its traditional ornaments, but with shoes and sport clothes underneath. I think they are right... we must follow progress. And I must, absolutely, to detach photo number 36. It is GRAND. Greetings from Portugal, Rosa
