  • BIG DISCLAIMER: I did not take these pictures, I was too busy keeping the boat in position to assist in rescue and recovery efforts of the person if needed. I was the first boat on the scene and held my position until the US Coast Guard arrived. The distance from the bridge to the water was less than 52 feet, he may have been injured but probably not killed from the jump. A HUGE "job well done" to the Fort Lauderdale Police Department for their quick response and their ability to talk the person back up on the bridge. If he had jumped, I would not be posting these pictures. Watching this scenario unfold in front of me was a painful, emotional roller coaster. If you are thinking of doing something like this- DON'T. Don't make people watch you play with your life as if it were a game.
