  • Thank You for these pictures. I was on a trip back from Mobile AL to El Paso TX 2 month prior to Katrina. As a Youngman, I used to goto Gulfport to visit my grandfather who was at the naval home there. we would stay at the Holiday Inn there for a couple weeks each summer ( my grandmother and I ). I understand the holiday inn is gone now. One of the things we did was visit Ship Island.. I am shocked at how close the waters edge is, I hope someone saves that piece of American history. This brought a tear to my eye to see a place I loved as a kid suffer so much. Again thank you for these pictures.
