great pictures of the Amish !!!! we also have mennonite around here and they dont mind you taking pictures. Its a little harder to get my amish pictures cus is dont want to offend them. and i try to get pictures without their faces. The ones we have met are very nice fun people. Lots of our friends drive them around. And they also drive the horse and buggy mennonites around. We have a community of Amish about 5 miles away and i like to get pictures of them working in the fields. I really do enjoy your pictures but it is taking time to see them all. So i will be looking for quite some time. :)

I love your new additions, Shirley ... they don't get any better than yours. Being allowed on the farm for close-up shots has to be soooo special!!! ... Thanks for sharing. L@dybug hugs, Judy

You have great photos--our Amish are Old Order--women never work in the fields, they don't bale the way yours do--very different. Its very difficult to get pictures also--they will turn if they see one trying to take a photo--but you have some great shots!

Hi Shirley and thanks for your gb note. How do you manage to get all these great shots? I never saw more than 3 horses abreast. Wow, great shots of the teams and field work. I actually have driven a team of horses as we had a team when my family started farming in 1951. Donna

Hi again, Shirley - oh how I loved seeing these photographs; you did a super, super job on them. The 100-degrees shows in the summer haze but it sets the mood. These Amish people work soooo hard! You showed a boy of 10 working with a 4-horse team; when we took our 3 children in 1970 they were 10, 8 & 5. We came upon a 10-horse team and a fellow of about 11 or 12 working the field; it brought Mike to tears watching him work the reins. The kids couldn't understand why Daddy was crying but I surely did - it was incredible and we've never forgotten that scene. Thanks for the sweet memories all your photos brought back. This should be featured, Shirley!!! ... L@dybug hugs, Judy
