Shirley, What a beautiful collection of photographs of the Amish. These are not just snapshots but they are art. I especially like the several pictures taken from behind the buggies. When I once asked an Amish gentleman where they got their beautiful trotters to pull their carriages, he told me that they were obtained at an auction of retired racing horses from trotting horse stables. He said that even though they were not fast enough to win races, that they were fast enough for the Amish. Thanks for the visit to one of my albums. I now wish to invite you to visit my album on Amish Barn Building since you love the Amish like I do. I was fortunate enough to be invited by an Amish farmer to photograph this amazing event in Holmes County, Ohio. It is now one of my most visited albums. I think you will enjoy it. Hello Shirley - you've done a beautiful work with the Amish photos. I like the way you respect them - although there are groups now who don't mind their photos being taken. Your photos should be framed and hung up for all to see. - Best regards, DeeAnne

Shirley, thank you for the kind words regarding my album of the Amish. I live in Dayton, OH so am only a few hours away from Holmes county where there is a large Amish population. I agree they are very interesting and I enjoy going there any chance I get. Most of the shots in my album was taken out of the window of a moving car as to not be intrusive to them. Again thanks for the kind words but the photos I have pale in comparison to the ones I viewed from your albums. Very good work!

Shirley, bless you for your respectful display of these gentle people. America is praying for the whole of the Amish people in thier time of grief and sadness. My only hope is that the people of the world come to better understand the Amish ways and respect them more. With forgiveness comes healing, as hard as that may seem it's true. Our heart goes out to the families and our prayers are with them as well. Randy in Oregon

That amidst adverse conditions they will not strike back but pray for the accused family and comfort each other with much support and prayers. This is a community that we should look up to and admire. Thank you for sharing, May God bless you and the Amish community. Regards, Paul. St. Catharines, Ontario, Canada.

I, to, live in Amish Country, right outside of Titusville, PA. These folks do try to live peaceful lives, but they aren't as sheltered as most people think. They are no different than you or I as far as their knowledge of the world. BUT, they do try to shelter their children from the GARBAGE in the world, but there is no where in this world that anyone can hide from Satan's control. As long as we, the people, allow him to have control, he will hurt our children. Their is no place to hide, except when you have the love of Jesus in your heart and He will protect us.This is no different than the other school shootings. Maybe everyone should start thinking clearly, and put prayer back into the schools, and allow Him to take back the control He once had. God Bless and thanks for the beautiful photos. Diane, PA

Thanks for your pictures of Amish country -- they make me homesick. I grew up nearby Strasburg with Amish and Mennonite neighbors but moved away years ago and live in Texas now, although I get back to visit from time to time. I just lost my last two aunts up there in September. Thanks for the reminders of home. I grieve for the recent senseless loss of life and innocence of these gentle people. Donna

Hi Shirley, This tradgedy tears at our very souls. You are helping in the healing process; your album is a touching tribute. I don't know if the Amish communities know how much they are admired. Forgiving the seemingly unforgiveable is Christlike. It is a very, very difficult thing to do. They will find peace eventually, if not now because not forgiving will eat you up. The world needs to pray more and more but I know I'm 'preaching to the choir' the people who need to hear that message are not the ones who have left the beautiful, heartfelt messages to you. Congratulations to you and webshots for sharing. Dolores in FL

HEARTY CONGRATULATIONS are definitely in order for the quality of your work and the love you have for the people you know so well. PS I think we all would like to have a less stress filled life. My parents and also my husband was reared in this type of life. We started our marriage in this lifestyle. It is a hard life; sometimes rewarding when the crops come in, but sometimes heartbreaking when you work so hard and lose everything. At least the Amish do have each other to lean on as well as their religion.

What a beautiful album of this unique community. It is so sad to hear about their tragedy in this peaceful world they created for themselves. Congratulations for being featured today. Tirza from Los Angeles

Hi Shirley! This is a beatiful album. After yesterdays tragic events it hits home even more. My wife commented that if we all chose to live this way maybe the world would be a lot better place. I think she's right. Thanks for sharing and thanks for looking at my album the other day. Hugs Al aka acehigh999. PS. Both Judy and Sharon told me about this album.

Any murder of innocent children is tragic, but this seems even more so because of the Amish's intense desire to remain true to their ancestry and not become involved in this world. They do not like to be photographed and now with all the television cameras filming there, it is really a intrusion to their quiet, peaceful way of life. This album was very well done and I think without intruding on their values. Blessings from Florida, Carol

They are such peaceful folk - to have their peace and their tranquil lives destroyed by such evil and the victims so very young, I shall add my prayers. Bless you too for sharing these photos with us

Sharon let me know about your album. I don't know what is becoming of people. We too had a horrific example of this madness here in Montreal recently. Children? What could they possibly be guilty of to merit such treatment? I digress, your photos are lovely and truly reflect the simplicity of the life they portray... Lloyd

Hi Shirley, Judy told me about your album. I had written in her gb and so she replied. This is a beautiful tribute to the terrible tragedy that has happened to these honest, quiet, trustworthy, quiet and peaceful people, who do nothing but be kind and mind their own business. Some nut comes along and destroys it. My sorrow goes out to them. God Bless Them All. Thank you for this great album. Sharon

Dear Shirley, I hear your prayer for these dear people you know so well. This is a lovely tribute in their 'hour' of need; their world has been shaken by the elements they avoid. God bless them all. ........ With love, Judy
