Album Description:
Crater Lake National Park about 60 miles northwest of Klamath Falls Oregon is one of the earth's true wonders. The incredible colours of the water and the realization that you are standing on the rim of what once was an active volcano can leave a person w

~ I am an Oregonian from birth and just LOVE Crater Lake ~ I took my husband and daughter there to see it one May about 20 years ago and all they got to see was a 15 second view of the lake when the snow storm had a QUICK break in all the snow falling ~ It was almost funny since we went up there from Oklahoma, but at least they got to see it for a bit ~ Thank you for sharing your pix ~

Great shots of one of the most beautiful places I have been. We missed seeing a lot since the snow was piled up alongside the approach road over 10 ft high and we had to climb a 20 foot snowbank just to see the lake. Thanks for the clear views. Judy of North Carolina

Did you not see the Phantom Ship Rock formation? Or just not get a picture of it?

Ah, your photos brought back many wonderful old memories! After graduating from Indiana State University in the spring of 1967, I took a train to Oregon where I had a job as seasonl park ranger waiting for me at Crater Lark National Park. I spent the whole summer there doing what rangers do - leading nature walks, giving campfire programs, leading boat tours on the lake, etc. During my off time, I roamed the backways of the park where the tourists can't go and saw many aspects of the area from a whole different perspective. I would have ocntinued this line of work except I went into the US Air Force that winter and spent a whole career then another career working for the city of Phoenix as a park ranger. Now, 42 years later, Crater Lake looks just like I remember it looking in the summmer of 1967 when I was only 23 years old. I camped in the crater of Wisard Ialsnd and celebrated a birthday on a moonlight cruise of the lake, then joined my friends at the lookout atop The Watchman where they had baked a terrible looking but tasty birthday cake for me. Unfortunately all of my photos of Crater Lake were somehow lost during one of my many Air Force moves and I have not been back since. Now, at age 65, perhaps it's time to return. (AzCraig@aol.com)

I wanted to comment on this fantastic album...I just viewed a slidshow of this wonderful Crater Lake National Park and I was in awe of the whole thing. My thoughts are that more than one photo could have been chosen for POTD...it must have been hard for them to chose just one. I applaud your excellent photography. Lorraine, Massachusetts

I have always wanted to go there, to Crater Lake. I taped a whole hour of National Geographic documentary about it. Thanks for taking me on this journey to a great place. I would love it very much if you could post some of your good work on my website. The honor will be mine. THank you for your friendship. Best Regards. Majed from Austin, Texas.
