Album Description:

Most are from Europe; Grand organs fascinate me since my chilhood and my greatest deception is to have not become an accomplished organist; I just can play by hear some classical toccatas or chorals but with undescribable hands contorsions!

  • Dear Jacques, I am so glad to see you have posted this album here. I think you will see a big differemce in the traffic and this album certainly deserves to be seen by everyone, it is so beautiful. I think these instruments are magnificant and the most able to give you a complete orchestration. Hugs, Trudy

Ange

  • Dear Jacques and Pierre! I have already seen this album in Fotki and commented on this extensively. I think this is one of the best albums I have seen of the collection of organs from various parts of the world. I know much effort would have gone into compiling this. And, as usual, the captions are very illuminating. Thank you for posting it on the webshots too. Best wishes, Suresh

  • Hi Jacques! I really enjoyed your captions that went along with the Grand Organ photos. I played the piano and an organ for a few years at church, but the organ always caused me problems with my foot not wanting to follow the music!!! :-)) I'd have to play with my shoe off! Thanks for this beautiful album and also thanks for the kind comment on the photo from Telluride, Colorado. Glad you've been there. Sharon from Missouri

  • Hello Jacques, I came to visit as I saw your comment on todays feature as to where you are at this moment after 4 days in BA. I am following you in 10 days time but only 2 days in BA, off to the GWC fr Ush! Great photos in this album of a very unusual subject, you are very talented to be able to play at all. I am tone deaf! LOL. You will have to venture across the channel one day to see some of our great organs. Not only church organs but also in Norfolk there is a museum with many fairground organs & a wurlitzer. Eric

Bien cordialement. Didier. Rennes.

  • The beauty of the facades of these marvelous instruments hides the thousands of pipes necessary to create the angel sounds that come from these magnificent instruments. I have a cassette tape of the master E. Power Biggs, who plays some of the very instruments shown here. Thanks to you and your wonderful collection of fotos, I can view this album and listen to the magnicient sounds emminateing from them. I was minister of music for my parish church that has a 5,000 pipe organ, the comparison, of course is small, but I enjowed playing it immensely. I would give my heart to be able to sit at the ranks of these. Thank you so much for the opportunity to see them. Ron, Massachusetts

  • Dear Jacques, thank you so very much for spending so much time on my Bavarian album and for your generous comments. They always mean so much to me as I greatly respect your views. I chose this album to write this because I thought of you when I saw the beautiful rococo organ in Wieskirche, Bavaria. I was not fortunate to hear it being played, but from what I hear it has a very melodious sound. I would be happy if you would add the photograph of that organ in this album (only if you so desire). Thank you once again. My best wishes to Pierre and you. Suresh

  • Great pictures here! I can put on a CD of French organ music and look at these pictures and imagine I'm THERE! I'm not the world's greatest organist, either. At least I get to play a real pipe organ in my church, but it's much smaller! (joan from terrynjoan)
