Hi, this is a nice album. Michael was in Sri Lanka some years ago, i think it was 1999. We have also some pictures from this trip here in webshots. If you have time, and you want, you can visit the album. He would be happy about this. Greetings from Germany, Sonja

What I like most about this album is the educative aspect. Not only are the pictures excellent but you have explained every picture in detail which provides added value to your work. Once you begin on this expedition because of the accompanying dialogue one is compelled to complete the journey. This type of work is greatly appreciated. Thank you!

Mr. Krishna. After learning that "Sri Lanka" in Sanskrit means "Respledant Land," -- and learning the origin(s) of its' former name "Ceylon," I will now consider its' present name as the "correct name!" Ceylon was not an appropriate name derived from its' deepest human history and culture. Many other places on this planet will not be so fortunate! Your photography inspired me to learn more than I knew. The ancient architectures and art you visit and impressively photograph - these subjects never cease to amaze me, their construction... and tools used - {in those times}, and the perfection those artisan-constructors accomplished is - mind-boggling! And for "me" - a place is "also" its' landscape, weather, and wildlife characteristics. And I see these things in your captured scenes - where they show. Also, whatever weather activity might ceate beauty in the sky. Also: Religious profile of Sri Lanka = Buddhist 69.1%, Muslim 7.6%, Hindu 7.1%, Christian 6.2%, unspecified 10%. That's another complex subject that I only have a broad, thin knowledge about! I'm not well educated! But, I just naturally have strong awareness about all this world is composed of - with amazement! (I will "conceitedly" call it) an enlightened view! It is just my "natural" thinking - while I go about just being a regular U.S. citizen. But my wide-view of this world makes me comprehend the views expressed in the religions of the "East" - within my thin knowledge of them. I own a fine book titled: "India Unveiled." It's by a successful American businessman who by happen-chance was led to visit India after talking with an Indian businessman at a trade show in the U.S. His first visit, and succeeding visits to India, led him to discover elements of culture and religion that the "West" could, and "should," learn from. It has many fine photos of citizens, ancient architectures, and many Eastern-religious views and history he writes of. <> What a pleasure to view these ancient wonders!!! Best Wishes: Gary, city of Seattle

I am looking forward to spending time in this (your) album here once I have ironed out my computer problems. I will always think of this island as "Ceylon" mostly. That's what I grew up knowing it as. Like I will always consider Tanzania as "Tanganyika" for the same reason, Myamar as "Burma" - and so on. So until my computer problems get ironed out, try to keep cool! Gary, northwest corner of the U.S.

We came back to have a fresh look at this album of yours which is such a beauty! On the big screen everything has different dimensions! And your story about these old shrines and temples is so enticing! We'd like to invite you to have a look at a World Heritage Site in Japan, the Toshogu Shrine. We wonder if in your visits in Japan you've already had the chance to visit the location (?) If you did not, than this album on Yoshiyuki's page might entice you to do so.Friendliest regards, Gabriela & Yoshiyuki Tanaka

Hi Suresh, thanks for visiting my album of Purim Parade. It was a very entertaining event. Unfortunately, my pictures fail to show all the fun on that day, at least they can share the colors with everyone. As you could see, even India was represented in this parade! Wishing you a wonderful day, Yair.

Hello Suresh, a superb album. Your attention to detail with both the photos & text is remarkable. I learnt so much in reading your captions. The stone carvings are a joy to see given their age. My daughter once attended a wedding in Sri Lanka but I have never been that way. I thank you most sincerely for all your flattering comments on my recent antarctic album. It was a special trip for me, I took a CD of my old photos & memorabilia & did a talk on the ship one evening that was well recieved. Best Wishes. Eric

What an amazing country this is and you have once again demonstrated your enviable ability to get right into the heart of the place and emerge with the most incredible set of photos. As always, your portraits are beautifully done and your capture of the Buddhas, the shrines and the ruins are simply breathtaking. I viewed this album on a slow slideshow and was thus able to sit right back and enjoy it to the full. Wonderful work which is up there on a pedestal with your other beautiful albums of exotic places. It's almost a shame that we are going to have to beat the Sri Lankans at cricket later this year but well... you know how it is!!! All best wishes and, at the same time my sincere thanks for your generous comments on my attempt to photograph the comet Mcnaught this week. Peter

Hello Suresh, I don't know how I missed this superb album when you first released it, but am happy to say I found it several hours ago and have been mesmerized by the beauty and knowledge you have presented. My favorite images, not to say I didn't love them all, but the best for me were the ones, Inside Dambulla Caves, Dambulla, Sri Lanka, these were really remarkable in the lighting and history portrayed by the images. Thank you for sharing your journey and knowledge with us here on WS, it has been a real treat. Greetings to you from, OKLAHOMA. Susie

Dearest Suresh - thank you for this fabulous journey! This has been a most interesting lesson that is full of beauty. My knowledge of Sri Lanka was until now limited to the story of the Ramayana - this is a much nicer portrait! But you are the master of portraits, both literary and photographic. As always, I really appreciate your generous comments on my Bay Area album. If you have time, I think you'd really enjoy the video I added to that album and I'd love to hear what you think. Hi Suresh, thanks for visiting my new album of Holon's Story Gardens. That was the first time I visited the gardens and was impressed so I though it's worth sharing with others. Next week I intend to share part 2 of that album. I was told by friends that these gardens are very popular by kids but when I visited there, I could not find many of them there. I came across your album quite by chance and I was absolutely spellbound! I grew up in Sri Lanka and I thank you for the wonderful photographs you put together in your album. Reading the comments on your page, I can see that your pictures have impressed so many people! And through your pictures the people who have viewed your album have been left with positive thoughts of the country of my birth. This is so precious since one reads so many negative things about the country because of the never ending war that has hurt so many people. Congratulations!

Hello Suresh, this album waited for me quite a long time, I had a lot of things to do and also wanted - at last - finish an album I was working on for the last months. (And I am not at all pleased with the outcome.) - So this album is for me a vacation after finishing work. I knew it would take me some time to look at it. I was sure, if it is your album it would NOT be about Sri Lanka and TEA! First I spent some hours over this album only looking and reading speechless! Now it's time for the results! :-) I enjoyed very much reading all your wonderful captions. You are a great teacher - or had a very good book available. But even then, it amazes me how easy you express and describe things in history and especially in faith and religiosity. In this album I see your incredible pictures more as a great decoration to the captions. For sure it is the first time this happens to me! :-) This album was - to say it with your words - 'a humbling and spiritual experience' for me. In great admiration - Galit

Hi Suresh, congratulations on this wonderful album. I enjoy it very much visiting your albums and this one is very beautiful as always. Thanks for sharing your pictures of Sri Lanka with everyone, this is a place I probably won't have a chance to visit myself. As always, I like the most the portraits of the locals but all other pictures are very beautiful as well. I did not notice that you shared this album in Fotki and I hope that all members there will have a chance to see it. Thanks for visiting my album featuring the Feijoa. I'm glad to hear that you like it. Wishing you a wonderful weekend, yair.

Dear Suresh, You made my day with this inspirational album; All images were very moving for me as explained in photo comments; I shall come back in it to make more downloads as Internet or my computer were very lazy to-day;You honoured Sri Lanka by a great gift and that album should be used in schools for the quality of pictures and richness of the captions! Thank You many time, with my best thoughts to You and Usha, Jacques

A most enjoyable tour Suresh. The time spent was well worth the trouble. Never been on a journey like this before. Thanks Suresh for your invitation. 27 downloadings altogether, a collection most appreciated. Thanks a lot! Warm greetings - Antti
