Album Description:
A part of the old walled city of Intramuros in Manila, Fort Santiago originally served as the Spanish army garrison during the 1600s up to the 1800s when the Philippines was still a colony of Spain. It's now a historical shrine. Shots taken Dec. 2006

Dear Mary, Although I see it beautiful, at the same time I am surprised this type of monuments and constructions to the Spanish style in such a distant place. I have enjoyed with each picture of this album. From Spain, I send you my most affectionate greeting, and all my personal love toward Philippines. A hug. Jesus

Mary Ann, Very nice shots, an old Fort, lots of history, family history as well. Sustaining life during that occupation is nothing to quibble about, others that haven't been through that history will never know what its like. I wish you well. Thanks for this history lesson. The best to you and your family during the holiday season. ron

Doing the Fort Santiago album was surprisingly a painful experience for me, especially as I was reminded of the bitter experience both my parents underwent during WWII under the Japanese occupation. Each side of my parents had a brother who was forcibly taken to the very walls of this place which I just took pictures of. I just couldn't shake off the feeling that perhaps one of these ruined walls or rooms stood witness to the execution of my beloved relatives. My hope now is that nothing like this place ever happens again. Mary Ann

Hi Mary Ann, I started looking at this last night, but I realized that you were in the middle of posting it. So I came back this morning. You had a beautiful day to tour this historic place and your pictures are very good. Carol
