  • We went on a daytrip today, 2-3 hours drive from Islamabad, to see the 2nd largest salt mine in the world after Poland. This salt mine is said to have been discovered by Alexander the Great and mining began during the reign of the Mughal emperor Akbar. The salt come in many shades of pink, salmon, and white. They're translucent so there are several structures inside made of salt bricks and lit from within to highlight the beauty of the mineral.
