Hello Francisca, what a great idea to do the street signs this way. Spain is known for their beautiful tiles - so this is very fitting. I love Spain but I have never been to Madrid (even though the daughter of my good girlfriend lives there). Maybe someday I will get a chance to visit Madrid - I know that it is very interesting and there is so much to see there. Take care, Eve

In Madrid, if you must rely on street names you will not find them hanging from a traffic light or on an obvious street post. Instead you will find your street (calle) decoratively painted on tiling against the side of a building usually near an intersection. Keep an eye open while you’re navigating around Madrid for the fine tiles showing street names. Some are portraits of famous people - Cervantes, Queen Isabel, the playwright Calderon de la Barca – while others show landscapes of old Madrid, with picturesque details. In the Old Center of Madrid, it is impossible not to notice that there are colourful decorations everywhere. Street names are displayed in Tiles, often with images referring to the name of the street. Beautiful tiles are commonly used as decorations on shops and buildings, but in Madrid, also as streetsigns...
