  • You always find the most extraordinary architecture and bring the artists touch to it. I would never see these places on my own.

  • Hi Manuel, I am pleasantly surprised by the beauty of this castle. In fact I am very enthusiastic, the beauty of the palace is beyond compare, breathtaking, stunning, you name it. You posted a very good portrait of this old palace, which is on the outside as well as on the inside an architectonic masterpiece. I was a great joy to view your album! Saludos amigo, Tjebbe

  • Hola Manuel, I am surprised that I had never seen or heard of this structure before. I love that color against the blue sky, but most of all I love the incredible level of detail on the exterior and the interior. Just to mention the corner tower alone, is magnificent. I love the round spiral brick detail on the wall topped by the outstanding openings and that wonderful tiled dome. A photographer could spend a good portion of a lifetime capturing the way the light at different angles plays on those details. Great album! Thank you for bringing it to us and thank you for your generous comments on my Challenges album while I was on holiday. Best wishes from Florida, Paul.

  • I was just reading the comments and I too noticed a Morrish influence in some of the architecture ... off I go .. much more to see ... shame I didn't see this when I was in Alcala de Henares ... quite impressive

  • Hello Manuel! Thank you for this album. The Laredo palace does exhibit a lot of Moorish architectural influence. Your are right about the resemblance of the style to that of Alhambra, However, each one is unique in its own way. I enjoyed the virtual visit to this palace. Thank you for sharing these lovely pictures. Best wishes, Suresh

  • The Laredo Palace located in Alcala de Henares (Madrid - Spain)was built between 1880 and 1884 thanks to the determination of Manuel Jose Laredo (1842-1896). He was painter, restorer, architec, drawer, decorator and Alcala de Henares Mayor. The Outside elements to be pointed out are: central tower and the clock corner minaret. Inside it is very interesting the Kings Room. It was built with gothic ribs from Santorcaz castle (building from 14th century). The Walls are decorated with the kings of Castilla images, from Alfonso XI to Carlos I. The ceiling of the vault represents the firmament as thought to be in Middle Age. The works are inspired in the Alhambra: the tiles, arab inscriptions, battlements, gargoyles, winged dragons, coffered ceilings, glassed in balconies, french windows, subway tunnels, the pond, the iron bower and some more elements that compose a labyrinth of styles, corridors and staircases that take us to another world. In this Palace you can see one of the three originals of the complete (6 volumes) Polyglot Complutense Bible. Today the palace belongs to the University and is the site for the Cisnerian Studies.
