UNREAL! If I ever get over there, I MUST see this place first-hand! But if I don't ever get there, your photos made it real for me. I read the "Left Behind" book series, and the novelists suggest that the remnant of God's people will be holed up in Petra before the Lord comes back. How amazing those carved facades are!

It makes for very interesting viewing! A wonderful dedication for such a talented photographer as Maria :D..Have a great day! Marita

Hi Yair! What a coincidence that you just posted this album. We had the chance to go to Petra on our recent trip to Dahab - but declined because we didn't want to put our little man though even more bus trips on that vacation. Now that you've put this album up I can see the best things anyway - so I'm double lucky :-) ! Anyhow, the shots are of outstanding quality - as usual :-))

Hello Yair! What a fabulous album you have put together! Petra, in my mind, has always been associated with the fables of 1001 nights. There is something so elusively romantic about it. Probably, it is the sheer grandeur of Al-Khazneh opening up suddenly when you go through the Siq. It is the improbability of it all that you would find something like this in the middle of nowhere. Whatever it may be, you have captured the magic of it all in a grand style. Now, more than ever, I wish to go there. You are a great photographer and the results are there to see. Thank you, Yair, for this treat.

Hello Yair! I hope you have had a very good Hanukkah, my friend! You always discover the most fantastic places to show to us! Petra is such a beautiful place, and so ancient! A lot of History in all those beautiful and so beautifully worked rocks. Thank you so much for taking me there! All the photos are fantastic! And thank you also for your visit to my flamingos album! This is being a blessed Winter for me, because although I don't like cold, I'm taking all the time I can to photograph migration birds in Tejo (Tagus) river. I must say: I never we had such a great diversity of birds in Winter! Flamingos had already visited the river in previous years but not in the last two years, although they visit other places near. But this year they came back and in great number, and they are showing every day! I'd love to capture them in a sunny day! Weather is being so dull these last days, with a lot of humidity! Temperatures are not too low, thanks God! So, I'm enjoy my walks with Nina when it's not raining and I test my new Fuji with a 18x zoom:) The lenses which came with my Olympus are not exactly zoom lenses altought they are very good... they are not good for birds. And the Fuji isn't still the ideal option for small birds... But I can't complain. I must take it easy:) Best wishes and take care, my friend! Rosa

Hello Yair: I viewed the album again when I saw you added to it, and enjoyed doing so just as much the second time. I can understand your awe actually being there, as opposed to seeing it on TV programmes. There's no comparison between the 2. Being there, you'd 'feel' it as well as seeing it, as you experience the full grandeur of it. All the best, Ron.

Our dear Yair: Once more you impressed us by this exemplary report on Petra - which no doubt is one of the most important places to visit in our world. We appreciate your manner of making us visit: not simply through a collection of "typical views", but also of what might at first look be "unimportant", but is in reality strongly linked to the subject. Thank you for this 2008-album - no doubt, and fortunately, to be followed by many others... With best wishes: Kaethi and Henri - P.S. Thank you for your kind comments of Dec. 9 and 27 as well as January 1st

Hello Yair: Hats off to a most captivating album. What an amazing place and you covered it well. I first saw the entrance in the first Indiana Jones movie, but didn't know what it was then. I finally got educated with Petra during a documentary of the Jordan region, and saw it again during another documentary of sacred places. I can sure understand the sacredness of it. I commend you on the coverage of the place. You certainly did it justice. Best wishes from Ron.

Oh, and I must add this important detail (as a reply-comment to some of the previous comments): Detail Oriented is Yair's nr 2 quality! Nr 1 being his Perfectionism! So this album is absolutely no wonder, nor surprise to me, just an extra confirmation of his most valuable qualities as a photographer, reporter, and person, most of all.

Yair, this is a completely marvellous album! So glad you made the trip! Liked also your captions explaining the history of Petra. Having been built so long ago, what happened over the years between when it was a flourishing city and the 1800s when it was redicovered? Did it have to be excavated? It is a great idea to have it now a World Heritage Site of UNESCO, so it can be enjoyed forever by the people of the world! You made a beautiful album here, Yair, and I thank you for the invitation! Wow Yair! I've always dreamed of going to that place! I've seen it in the movies and wondered if that place really existed. Awesome! I just read Maria's comment and I totally agree with her. I could not have said it any better. Where I don't agree... this album is dedicated to ME!!! ;-D Awesome album thanks for sharing. I want you to know there is a little bit of Jealousy... Wish I was with traveling like you do in the honor of photography... My dream someday. Cat

Dear Yair, Once again you have created a masterpiece of an album. Yor photography as usual is impecable, sensitive and shows your eye for capturing the unique beauty of any place you visit. Not only are you a gifted photographer, but an excellent photo journalist as well. You are one of my favorite authors on WS. Thank you for all the many hours you put into this album - and I know Maria is most appreciative of your dedication to the art of photography and of this album to her. Looking forward to MANY more fantastic albums from you during 2008. Best wishes, Carol

Dear Yair, this is a most beautiful album of a very unusual, but interesting place that I had no idea it existed until seeing your album. No secret anymore that visiting your albums feels like attending an educational seminar, or a history class. Not sure I even learned so much from my history class as I learned from all your albums. But the information added is just one small part of what this album is about. The photos are well taken and composed, and presented in a logical array that is very particular to your perfectionism. Moreover, I see that this album is dedicated to me, which makes it even so much better, doesn't it? :o) Jokes apart now, I feel really honored to have this album dedicated to me. Thank you so much for the dedication, and thank you for being my friend. Maria
