This album is the story of pride, politics, passion , power , authority, intrigues and foolishness. The Crusaders were a series of military conflicts of a religious character waged by much of Christian Europe during 1095-1291, most of wich were sanctioned by the Pope of Roman Catholic Church in the name of the medieval polity of "Christendom". The Crusaders originally had the goal of recapturing Jerusalem and the sacred " HOLY LAND" from Moslim rule and were coriginaly launched in response to a call from the Eastern Ortohdox Byzantine Empire for help against the expansion of the Muslim Seljuk Turks into Anatolia. At the 4th' of July 1187 ( After almost 100 years of Christian rule at the "TERA SANTA" - From Beirot of Lebanon today to the red sea) - Saladin , Sultan of Egypt, defeat the Christian army at the battle of Hattin and this was the begining of the long collapse of the Christian rule at the "TERA - SANTA" . This album will tell you the reasons to the christian defeat in political view and also the silliness of the Christian rule, and will take you to the place the showdown battle took place.

Ran, thanks for the pictorial review (of the crusades). I had read about the crusaders reprehensible behavior towards the people they conquered but not seen pictures of the places involved.

Hello Ran, I have really enjoyed this album, you have some really nice shots, it is also very interesting to read about, I too had heard about the Crusades, but to see the places is great, where I live in Chester we have a lot of Roman Ruins, some of which are 2000 years old and still standing well, I love reading History, thank you for sharing this album, hope you are well, take care Ann (Chester England)

Ran, thank you for this excellent set of pictures. I enjoyed reading the historical background captions. I have read of this battle before of how Reynald de Chatillion was the main prepertrator of the war between Guy and Salah-ud-din. Peace had reigned before Guy became king, however, afterwards the misdeeds and greed of Reynald caused the disastrous war which starved the Christian army. The struggle is not new, it has lasted for 2000 years. I had somehow imagined the battlefiled to be dry and loking like a desert. I now have to change my mind after seeing your pictures. There is also a good movie called 'Kingdom of Heaven' about this battle. Thank you for sharing these excellent pictures. Best wishes, Suresh

Dear Ran, beautiful pictures on the one hand and words that recall an inglorious and unmerciful part of the history, on the other hand: a thought-provoking album. Well done, as always, my friend. Thank you for sharing. Greetings from Vienna, Vera

Ran, thankyou for the history lesson and the beautiful photos. It seems the prettiest places were home to the worst battles. The saddest thing to me is that the battles were supposed to be in the name of religion - but in reality were not holy at all.
