  • Dear Rani, this is a very beautiful album of this ancient stronghold. The historical commentaty is very interesting. I had no idea the German knights had a center in Venice. I don't think it was mentioned much when we studied European history. Interesting. The views arount the fortress is beautiful green and lush, I love the galilee nature. I am looking forward to see you in Isreal soon. Love Tirza

  • Dear Ran, thank you for this beautiful trip through the Monfort aka Shtarkenberg. It is, indeed, a very historic castle during the crusades. I learned that soon after its completion, it was destroyed by Salah-ud-din in 1187. It was reconquered in 1220 and became a defensive system of the crusaders. It is a impressive as well as historic castle and formed a very importatnt part of the crusaders' travails. Excellent photographs. Once again, thank you for taking us a virtual trip. Your albums are very educative as they are beautiful. Best wishes, Suresh

  • Dear friend Ran; I love this album regarding the ruins of a Montfort fortress built by crusaders during the times of the Kingdom of Jerusalem. This fortress had not been originally built for military purposes but begun its way as an agricultural farm. By the way... did you know that the nobility title of "king of Jerusalem" belongs actually to our King Juan Carlos I? Very good stuff Ran! Shalom

  • Hi Ran, I very much enjoyed viewing this album. I can imagine the days when this fortress was populated - imagine the men standing watch clothed in the uniform of their day. The view from the watchtower is astounding. Even though the fortress is in an Oak Forest it still is very visible and commanding from the surrounding land. What a thrill it must have been to be there when it was built. Thank you for posting this excellent album - it is always good to learn so much history from you. - Very best regards from Michigan, DeeAnne :)
