  • It's a shame this is going to be razed, but at least it's not being turned into a development. The local amusement park I loved as a child was destroyed a few years ago to make way for more houses (as if there weren't already enough people living here). I believe it's called progress...Lora

  • I don't know Janice if there are any places left where a family can just go to have a fun day. In Toronto we have Wonderland, which is mostly rides but you can't bring your picnic lunch onto the grounds making it very costly for a family. I always find the zoo to be a better place for the family. Your lucky to have such good memories of this place and something to remind you of the good times you had there..Jules

  • Since Webshots truncated my description, here it is in its entirety: What remains of the old Gaslight Village Amusement Park in Lake George, NY. It was open from the 1950s through the 1980s, then reincarnated as Lake George Action Park with none of the Old Timey 1890s atmosphere. The land is now going to be restored to wetlands as a filter for water running from West Brook and other locations. My partner, who worked here from mid 1965 until the end of summer 1968, and I took a drive up in June to see if we could get a few shots before the entire complex is razed. I'm still looking for photos from those or any other years during its heyday.
