  • When Jan and I were leaving Lake Tahoe on a Friday morning to cross over to 395, it started to snow. By the time we got off the mountain and into Minden to gas up to make it to our next stop, Bishop, it was coming down so hard that our windshield defroster and wiper blades could not keep up. By the time we hit Truckee it was coming down so fast that we had to keep pulling over and cleaning off the windshiesld so that we coud see the road for the next few miles. Some miles north of Bishop the snow fall gradually let up and stopped. When we reached Bishop (in the late afternoon) it was very cold. Saturday morning found about 3-4 inches of snow on the top of the vehicles and none on the asphalt (warmer asphalt melted the snow as it fell). We had reservations for both Friday and Saturday night. Because it was so cold and it looked like it might start snowing, we headed home on Saturday morning. I bet that we may have passed you and Carl on our way south. We both like the Eastern Sierra. We shall return many more times. Thank you for sharing. Bill Helf.
