Album Description:
My trip to Antipolo's locally-renowned natural landmark was my first. I was told beforehand that it isn't worth visiting these days, but I had to see it for myself. The park may need some improvement though, but the falls just looks glorious!

Thanks for sharing this beautiful album of Antipolo's Hinulugang Taktak. I remember the song clearly since it is a popular tune when I was growing up there in the Philippines. I didn't realize how beautiful Hinulugang Taktak is because it has always been overshadowed by Pagsanjan Falls. Your pictures give this park great justice because you have captured its naked beauty. This is another must see place.

The history of Hinulugang Taktak is rich & colorful. Legend has it that sometime during the 16th century, the townsfolk of Antipolo were bothered by a church bell that produced harsh, unbearably loud sounds when rung during Angelus. They demanded that the local priest get rid of the bell. Bowing down to the clamor, the priest had it dropped in a nearby river. This explains the name, “Hinulugang Taktak” which means ‘where the bell was dropped’. As Antipolo became a religious site, the 15-meter high waterfalls also became a prominent destination for bathing & sightseeing. In the 1980s, it was declared a National Park by the government. This waterfall is made famous by a folk song that goes: "Tayo na sa Antipolo / At doon, maligo tayo / Sa batis na kung tawagin / ... ay... ay... Hinulugang Taktak... tak... tak... tak..."
