Dear Yair, This is really beautiful - you did a very good job. I think you did a little bit of an injustice to the inner court which I do find very beautiful (I would have displayed some more pictures of the inner court). A little bit of history - Carol I was the first Romanian king. He was from a German family (that is why the architecture is so specific for Germany) and was brought secretly to Romania by the main political parties of the time. The idea was to avoid a civil war by having a foreigner as a king. According to the statute of the royal house - the title could be inherited just by a male and the king was not allowed to have a local princes for his wife. The second Romanian king was Ferdinand - a nephew of Carol I. Then - Carol II, son of Ferdinand and, finally, Mihai, son of Carol II. Mihai had to give up his throne in 1947. Recently, the Peles castle was returned to Mihai but, for the moment, one can still visit the place.

Hi Yair! I hope you are doing well! I enjoyed viewing your Peles Castle album. I have never been in a castle and probably will never get that privilege, so thanks for sharing the fascinating places you get to see. Also, thanks for the g/b message regarding the peonies being POTD in Gardens. I keep thinking that someday I will get back to traveling to other places outside the city of St. Louis, but until then Bob and I just keep enjoying Missouri Botanical Gardens. :-) Greetings, Sharon

I gave up on commenting on individual photos as I could see I was soon going to run out of adjectives! This is truly a very impressive castle, and the workmanship is absolutely amazing. I noticed you seemed to be the only one there! You have a steady hand if you took all these indoor shots without support.

Yair, I have enjoyed the whole series of albums you have posted on Romania. This one is truly the cherry on top. The Peles castle truly befits its reputation of being the most beautiful castle in Europe. The sheer opulence, the decorative pieces and the period furniture simply defy one's imagination. Thank you for bringing this splendor to us. I enjoyed the album. Best wishes, Suresh

Yair, This is a gorgeous album. It is good that photos were allowed inside as you did a wonderful job of photographing the interior. So many places in the US don't allow photos. One question - why did you make us wait so long to enjoy this album? It is truly magnificient. I'll comment on individual photos at a later date. Best wishes, Carol
