Album Description:

Bucovina is a region in the northern part of Romania. The painted monasteries were built during the 15th-16th centuries (in the days of Stephen the Great and his son Petru Rares). The monasteries were designated a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1993.

    • Yair, Thanks for your visit to my Ocklawaha River Raid album. It was interesting to see the people re-enact a battle, even though they did not have their guns loaded with real shells and they aimed up instead of at people etc. It is a big time hobby for those folks...and some participate in more than one re-enactment during the year.     • The architectonic and pictorial richness of Bucovina is overwhelming - so sad that is is scarcely known "in the rest of the world"! But at least so positive that it is included in UNESCO's world heritage.
