Album Description:

The company I work for held its 52nd anniversary in Feb 2010 at The Mills Country Club - a newly installed recreation facility quite near our Laguna factory. The industrial park used to be a vast sugarcane plantation with sugar mills. Hence, The Mills.

    • The Mills Country Club is situated near the industrial complex where our company's manufacturing plant stands. It's called the Carmelray Industrial Park in Canlubang, Laguna province. The huge complex (which has Fujitsu, Tupperware, Dunkin Donuts Bakery, Dow Chemical, etc. as its locators) is just a portion of a vast land area that used to be tracts of sugarcane fields with manufacturing mills - all owned by the country's influential Yulo clan. But due to the decline in sugar exports since the 1970's, the family converted and developed much of the land into industrial estates, townships and other ancillary infrastructure & services. The Mills is located inside a township called Carmeltown, which is adjacent to the Carmelray Industrial Park.
