On March 4, 2004 at 11:25 am, hartogold wrote: Hi Gladys in Western Australia! Thanks for your appreciation of my pictures. I'm glad you liked them because from looking at your beautiful albums, you've really got some experience under your belt. I'm still new at photograhy. I just started getting into it last year. As you can see, flowers tend to be my favorite photo subjects. I have to let you in on a little secret...although some of the flowers are from my garden, many of the pictures were taken in the floral department of grocery stores and at nurseries. Especially in the winter time when there aren't many flowers to photograph. Thank God I have a digital so I can be discrete and other store customers can't tell I'm taking pictures. :-) Sandy from northern California.

Thanks for your comments in my guestbook. The reason for the slow downloads may be the fact that the size of the files for some of my photos is larger than they should be for more rapid downloads. Usually I try to keep them below 165 kb, but some of these are much larger than that. I apologize for the delay, but usually your patience is well rewarded with a beautiful photo. Jon

When shooting landscape photos I usually strive to incorporate some type of foreground material into the rest of the photo that is more distant. I think that is what makes the person viewing the photo feel as if they are really there, instead of it appearing as just another far off land. Thanks again for all your gracious compliments. Tornadoes struck last night, near one our favorite parks for hiking (several deaths reported), but fortunately we only got a nice rain. Talk to ya later, Jon

Yep Gladys, may I come to Australia one day. It was always one of my dream destinations. I even once applied for a PH.D. position in Sidney, but went to the US instead. I checked up some of your albums and found many fascinating places and nice shots. Though I would suggest to be a little more selective and for example use only one or two shots from one angle or subject. Otherwise your album can get packed with too many photos making some reluctant to view them. It would also stress out the better pics you have. Keep up the good work, Konrad

Hi again Gladys - re your comment "I hope you can find time to add appropriate titles to these beautiful images, as Disk Numbers are rather boring.." - yep, that's true, but when you're as busy as I am and don't know all the flower names, you can imagine the amount of work involved. Not that I'm uploading willy nilly - I love my images and just having the disk name doesn't denote carelessness. Thanks for your comments again :) Hillie Australia.

Hi Gladys, thank you so much for your help with webshots help desk. You have beautiful shots of spectacular scenery. Your pictures are very inviting to take a car and just…drive! Beautiful countryside! Presently, while I am writing this note, my daughter with son in-law are on the way to Australia for 6 weeks touring around the East Coast. Going back to my problems…. I do not that my entry will appeared here....this very frustrating to be unable to respond to friends comments. I am afraid that people think that I forget about that simply manner called a courtesy! I stumbled across your photos today, and enjoyed my visit. I especially love the ones of the rock bridge at the coast.. I had to look twice to realise there were people on the bridge... it was a great way to show the real size of the rocks. Your sunsets are lovely. I laughed when I saw Scarborough Beach.. it is very different from the Scarborough I visited as a child on our east coast! :O) You live in a beautiful country. Debbie, Cheshire, UK

Phew, Gladys, paying a visit to your albums is hard labour for me. First I have to decide of all these beautiful spots - where do I stop today - then I get there and you take me for a looong drive down to Albany with such awesome sights to see down there that my eyes are almost popping out, lol! I am so sad I never made it past Margarete River, seing yours and Peters Picture from the South Coast. But coming back to Perth - I love your city views. Do you have any shots of the Gum tree alley up at the park at night or dusk, when they light up the trees? Mine didn't come out. Thanks for another fantastic album! Cowgirl hugs from Houston. Marita
