Hi Anna, This place is just amazing, I could live here very happily. Think my ancestors from my father's side are calling out to me. You have captured this beautiful little village so well, and those simple shots of just a chair for instants, I love how you turn them into a work of art. En fait, les animaux que je photographie ne viennent d'aucun zoo, ils sont en partie en liberté et en partie en "liberté surveillée". Ils pourraient partir, mais ils restent...!!! Il s'agit presque toujours du Parc Paradisio, qui est spécialisé en oiseaux, mais maintenant il y a d'autres animaux aussi (des singes, suricats et autres). Il se trouve en Belgique. Marken, indeed, is a charming quaint village! Your photos are very enticing. However we only have a day stop in Holland as we'll be touring cities after cities in Europe. Since there's a lot to see in Amsterdam, we'll concentrate our time there and won't be able to see Marken. We'll probably go back to your country in another time to explore it further. Oh just about a month and a half to go...I'm really getting excited!!!

I've seen this album before and was impressed the first time. The village's images still continue to fascinate me. We only have a day to explore Amsterdam as we're moving from there to Brugges, Belgium...then from Brugges to London and so on. I too am not a lover of frames but thought I would give it a try. More an exersise in learning what I can do with Paint Shop Pro than anyting else. Ihope that you will come back later, as I am going to add to this album, it will no doubt be a slow process, as most of my pictures were taken with a film camera. Hello Anna, a very beautiful and enjoyable album; thanks for bringing Marken to the rest of the world. My wife's maternal ancestors came from Schermerhorn; is that a village you know? I do not know how many generations back that her ancestors emmigrated from Holland, however. We have been out of the internet for a while because our connecting equipment was installed improperly and it got slower and slower, then finally failed. We have new equipment now and the installer says that things are correct now so hopefully we are back in service for a long time to come. I have a new computer and operating system and am learning how they both work. It will be my new photo processing lab when I get everything put into it; however I doubt if it will help me take better pictures. My best to you and God bless. Carl

I send greetings from Poland and thanks for interest my unprofessional photos. Writing about mushrooms I meant invitation on their assembling in our Polish forests. They are beautiful, tasty and suitable to different dishes. During the autumn and after rains it is a lot of them in forests. Anna, het is weer een erg mooi album geworden. Zeer sfeervol, oerhollands en voor mij ook wel verrassend. Ik ben namelijk wel eens in Marken geweest, maar dat is zo lang geleden en bovendien was mijn bezoek van zo'n korte duur dat ik me er nauwelijks iets van kan herinneren. Bedankt dus dat je mijn herinneringen weer wat hebt opgehaald en dat je ervoor gezorg hebt dat ik op afzienbare termijn ook eens die kan op zal reizen. Hello Anna, What a day you must have enjoyed in Marken. Thanks for sharing these light hearted photos. They convey a sense of pride and a reminescense of what live has been for these fishermen communities. This reminds me a bit of some small villages on the shores of Nova Scotia, here in Canada, where people were getting practically all their income from fishery. I like much the way you make us visit this lovely little place. My favorites are ''Close neighbours'' and ''Masts''. Please keep your albums full of the colors of Holland.
