Dollys Sods is a high elevation glacial plateau...the remnants of what is left over from the last ice age. You can find bogs and alpine plants there. As you can see, on Memorial Day, the top of Dolly Sods is just experiencing their first blooms of spring!In the narrow valley was the North Branch of the South Fork. (Or was it the South Branch of the North Fork) of the Shenandoah River. In any case, it appeared to be a fast moving trout stream.
