This is really a treasure sent by Jan Jacot. Washington House burned down (Bruce thinks 1960s), and in its place today is the new police station of Watchung. Notes from Jan indicate that it was David Stewart's tavern a couple of hundred years ago. Later in the 1800's it was a Demler hotel. My husband remembers it as a restaurant/bar. They used to walk by it on the way home from school.
