This place not so far from the capital Tana used to be the Merina capital during their domination. This place used to be a dense forest, but as you can see all is gone nowerdays. After burning the forest, the farmers burn the old grasses every year when harvesting is completed. This called 'Tavy' in their language. This results in a high erosion and this a real disaster all around the country.
