the church of Santo Domingo in Cusco was build on the ruins of an old Inca temple (like most places in town). the spaniards kept some of the walls and rooms from the old temple intact, and build the rest around it. 500 years later, the spanish church had to be rebuilt 3 times due to eartquakes. the inca walls hardly moved.
