Album Info:

Part of I-70 had not been completed yet on the west side of the continental divide, so all traffic was routed onto a short section of US 6 when I drove the road the first time. The canyon was so tight, with the river in the middle, railroad tracks on one side, US 6 on the other, surrounded by shear cliffs, I could not believe that a 4-lane highway would ever fit. When I took the pictures, that part of US 6 had been buried under the new I-70.
