This is the original alignment of US 6. Much to my wife's dismay, I ignored the 10 signs about 5 miles back warning that the road was closed ahead, and ventured on anyway. I was really glad I did. The road landscape and marker made me feel like I was crossing the country in the 1930s (well, maybe 1950s) rather than 50 years later. It's amazing to think how many people saw this view so long ago.
