This rock formations has an interesting place in Navajo mythology. The Sons of Yei (God), one had the responsibility to rid the world of demons that roamed the earth. The other cleansed the sky of its demons. Completing their tasks, they came to rest here in Bluff, UT. Bluff is 26 miles south of Blanding; 26 miles north of Mexican Hat. Note: The formation Shiprock in New Mexico is supposedly the tail feathers of a sky demon that plunged to earth.
