The long beach at center right is Flamengo Beach - a beautiful beach created by landfill - but the bay is polluted. To the left of Flamengo Beach is Glória Bay. Above Glória Bay is the Santos Dumont domestic airport. Brazilian Santos Dumont invented his successful airplane before the Wright brothers published details of theirs.
